blargh! i'm back!
sadly i am owing a couple more portraits eek! but anyhow here are two more, i felt i moved onto something more with these two. First one was getting further away from the typical face i seem to paint on these guys, and also the eyes came out better. Second one i did quick and loose and with a big fat brush for the most part to make sure i didnt get my pen, control click for the diameter, and make it....teeny....weeny....and....start rendering....eugh...bleh!
anyhow....here they are - more to come! honest! And please please...CRITS! PAINTOVERS WHATEVER!
Hey man, great book, loving the brush-strokes in the latest portraits.
Keep it up the great work.
Cool! I like the upper one!
But I think I haven't got it yet. Did you use refs or not? ^^
You should definetely like it, as you are very, very good. Absolutely wonderful use of colours - you're so much beyond my abilities it's not even funny. The good thing is, though, that you are inspiring me to try even harder, and if you don't mind I'm going to eat the latest portraits with my eyes ( in hopes of learning to use colour as effectively as you ).
Keep up the great work, man.
Amazing work, really really great stuff. You're so talented that I want to stick my head in the ground and forget I ever wanted to be an artist.
really got somewhere with this one - tried to keep as much detail as loose as possible without rendering into it, i concentrated more on the eyes and nose and cheek as that seemed the most focal point - the rest kinda fell into place! Cant wait to do more of these and some from my imagination.
Awesome work as always, the only thing I find with the king, is that the crown seems too be the focal point.. well, I was drawn to it instantly and it seemed to steal the most attention. But it looks friggin' awesome man! Post morrreeee
Couple of updates, I painted the first from reference of the beautiful Chinese Stone Forest, i want to do a few more studies from that place. Sadly only from photos i found, i have not been there in person.
Then the second image spawned on from what I was learning in the ref painting, and i made a little enviro!
WOw... LOVE your b&w environment sketches, portraits and still life studies, badass work. 5 STARS
Your work is truly like food for the artist. You are a source of inspiration. Can't crit. Wish I could boost your skill but you are way ahead of me.
My path of learning (sb)
Massive update of artwork, I really should update this thread as much as my blog!

You've improved a lot, Tom. Keep it up! Definitely some amazing stuff going on in here. I am digging the creature designs the most.
Love the monster designs! Especially that fire golem... thingie. Looks so powerful! Absolutely great! Somehow the onion is my favorite, haha~
Thanks for the comments so far!
Here are some basic zbrush attempts, i'm still in a very early stage with my 3D learning, and I wish I could do more of it, but it takes up a lot of time!
Here are some concepts that I'm developing for a possible short film with director Martin Wikner here in Sweden, code name "Space Heroes" It has some really cool stuff to design and we are hopefull that it might get picked up on a film grant soon, so watch this space! (no pun intended).
Some very very quick costume sketches to get some ideas going
Quickly roughed out this building in 3D to make it easier to paint the shot with correct perspective as seen below...
