    Hey Longxiang, thanks for visiting my sketchbook too ^^. Transparent rough chalk? You know, I think I like that feel. Rather dreamy and just reminds me of something I'd see in a book like say, NeverEnding Story. The most recent one gives off more of that really dreamy fantasy feel to me. Probably because of the scale of the staircase tower thing, and the rest of architecture looking a bit like...tall grass lol (is it grass? o.o)

    I feel it's kinda a shame you're not populating your pic with something though. The story will come out even stronger?

    It's something... I was trying to make it look like marble (the cracks.)
    In reality it's a layer of painter sumi-e strokes on top of a yellow-green gradient set to hard light (I think.)

    I just watched the Gnomon DVD about environments where they teach you to sculpt environments out of cool looking accidents rather than designing them yourself. Like watching clouds--You see a cloud that kinda looks like something, then you make it into that thing. It feels like cheating to me, but it sure is fun.

    I feel it's kinda a shame you're not populating your pic with something though. The story will come out even stronger?

    Nice studies! Like I said, I haven't see any of your work in.... 20 years. I still have some of it. I really like the muscle study and the cross sections.

    @CouchPotato- ok, I will. Eventually I plan to render them all, but I'll do that one next.

    @Carnifex- Thanks! Please tell me you know of Kein Mehrheit Fur Die Mitleid, and their very stylistic album covers. They're German!

    You're making me feel old :/

    @mitso6989- Yeah yeah, less talk and more drawing from you.
    Actually if you scan those you should post them here. I forgot how much I sucked 20 years ago.

    Carnifex: Because you didn't recognize KMFDM immediately. It's an 80's/90's band, I thought everyone would recognize it :/

    Today's effort. Sorry for the big. Hopefully I don't hose this up when I paint it.

    Edit: just noticed my background also needs figures.

    Is this a "painting"? or are you doing it in Photoshop? If it's a painting, how big is it and how are you scanning it in?

    Photoshop. It's still a painting though! Me swears. Or at least it's going to be. I think I'm going to move it into painter from here on out.

    Actually "braid out of service." But yeah, that's exactly what it says.

    @mitso- aw, you're just saying that. Where have you been, anyway? I think your PC is rebooting itself every 10 minutes.

    @Blade-14- thanks!

    I'm here, just had some long days at work. I was signed in messenger at work, and since we don't have a network admin (Mac Heads don't think we need one) there are a lot of packet collisions that make the network hiccup about every 10 min. I'm watching the Gestures video. I'll post my stuff tonight.

    Finito!

    I'm really proud of the tiny Starbucks sign there. The rest... was a good learning experience.

    hey man really like the new update, the only problem i have with it is the two vases to the left.
    I'm really confused to as what exactly they are laying on...they look like as if they are floating on air at the moment...

    I agree with paperX. There is something wrong with the vases. I'm thinking they are not following the same perspective lines a the rest of the scene. Other than that it's a great piece. I have never seen any work of yours like this. Is this a new style/tools, or have you done things like this before?

    @Dreamworker- thanks!
    @Paper- You're right, I wasn't paying attention when I did the highlights. I fixed it in the EOW thread.

    @This is the first thing I've done like this! Scratchboard tool for the lines, watercolor for the rendering. I like that combination even if this last composition was meh.

    A few quick sketches. Google Image Search for "some guy."

    Edit: and then for "some lady"
