Little did farmer and geneticist Maxwell Dolby realize when he threw his latest unsuccessful human intelligence boosting folmula into the rose bushes, the power he was soon to unleash. The folmula was unsuccessful, even poisonous, in humans but not to the toxin-resistant digestion and inquisitive brain of the domestic goat. One of the little spring kids, barely stable on his little legs started nibbling on the tips of the rose bushes over the next few weeks, and a startlish metamorphosis occurred. The tiny farm animal gained increased strength, endurance, bipedalism, and intelligence greater even than his creator. Sneaking into Dr. Dolby's library, the young kid devoured, sometimes literally, every bit of knowledge in the scientific texts therein. Impressed by his inadvertent creation, Dr. Dolby began teaching the goat, eventually sending him to university. Still in his youth, the super goat became one of the greatest scientific heroes the world had ever seen- Billy Capra, The horns of science, mightiest kid in the world.
Grrrr. Wasn't able to get this to where I wanted it. Spent a good chunk of this weekend trying to figure out why my webhost isn't recognizing newly uploaded files after they reinstalled apache this week. I'll understind if it doesn't get to the poll. (More pissed off at Fourbucks than anything else right now.)

Gerbil: I assume you're using Photoshop?
When you're finished the illustration, to make it a decent size for this forum use 'Image>Image Size' and decrease it to anything around 700-800pixels in width and you should be right (if you're working on a portrait piece). Then use 'File>Save for Web' and select JPEG mode to get it at a decent file size for the internet. You can upload your image to places like www.photobucket.com and then post the IMG link here to make it show up.
There's probably a more in-depth tutorial in one of the stickies around here...
Also, don't forget to add a black border before saving it.

In the beginning noone believed in a rumour that Superman and 50 ft Woman are having an affair. It's changed after nine months when 50 ft Woman gave birth to this combination of brutal strength, unbelievable size and childish charm. After their baby devastated some major cities in the U. S. Sup and 50 ft Woman dissapeared. Goverment is still looking for an adequate nanny...

not an entry (of course), but since kid stuff is my bread and butter (I work for an animation studio doing mostly things for toddlers...), thought I might post some kids for ya`ll.
(really great topic there, bjorn dude...I`ll try and come up with something if I can manage it.)

Great stuff chuck!!! How do you find doing kids stuff? do you find it easy or kinda hard?
At work where i am, i was asked to design a kids farm site, found it kinda hard, because i had to really pair down the techniques i normally use!! quite useful to use less texture and wild colours!! PM me and i'll show you a sample, would love your thoughts on it
I wish i could enter this but i am ILL with damned flu computer monitors arent exactly my friend at the moment hahah

use colors (lots of `em), and weird shapes, and bigger than life storytelling and proportions. about your stuff - PM me. I`ll be glad to help out.

Oh man Chuck that is cool! Very pro those designs! One of my favorites has got to be the boy with the pot on his head! So cute, how he sees himself with a huge smile in an astronaut outfit! Only suggestion would be: Considering that the cooking gloves he is wearing would be for adults, you might make them bigger, much too big for him indeed.
But since those are just sketches to come up with your winner, probably no point in fixing it :p

Great Stuff, Chuck Mate! Makes me second guess my entry... but I had to save this in my inspirational folder.
Can't wait to see your final.

Cheers for the insight into youngins, Chuck. Very good pointers. Really cool work, too.
I was recently entertaining a relative's 6 or 7year old boy and just set him up on my hunk'o'crap N64 with Lylat Wars (the Starfox flying game). I told him how to use the control and he just sat there pressing shoot, swaying around and making noises. "Peow peow peow! Oh no! AHhhhhhhhh! Watch out! Peow peow! Ahhhhh!" He'd repeatedly die in the same spot on the first level - he wouldn't steer no matter how many times I advised him to use the joystick. Still, he kept saying how great the game was.
He was the most amusing video game player I have ever met. Instead of playing the game, he roleplayed it.

I might touch it up before the final day, but I gotta walk away for a bit. I know my lighting and truck anatomy is probably a bit off, but it was fun. Let me know if my image size is ok. Cheers!

In a dark age for humanity, where violence, vanity and murder have become to be (virtues), the lord has sent a creature of light, made from mud and fire; mighty boy is the chosen one, the carrier of the gift who will bring light to those dragged into the mists by the dark () and his archangels.

thanks guys. appreciate the kind words.
dragon4lunch - yeah you`re quite right, the gloves could definitaly be bigger... thanks mate.
cognition - yeah, kids can be so adorable, it sometimes makes my heart ache.
I saw this woman once, beating her 6 year old daughter cause she made too much noise
while playing. I swear to god: I was insanely close to putting a bullet through her empty fucking head.
you have to be one sorry sack of shit low-life to hit a kid for any reason whatsoever, let alone for expressing HAPPINES.
edujante - I like the mood of your piece... and the character and pose are both very well done.
stephan_R - damn that truck is excellent!. great piece, man. really cool.
