This is my portfolio im submitting to VCU, MICA, and SCAD. some of the pictures are going to change. some of the figure drawings are poor quality.
this is a resent series i did for my mixed media class which is currently being displayed at the Virginia contemporary art center.
*sigh* well thats that. crits and comments are welcome. also should i exchange some of my older/worse work for sketch book pages?
Your range of experimentation is commendable and you will be accepted to the art school of your choice I think. Your drawing ability and the figure works should be pushed deeper so that your observational skills improve. The better you can observe life, both from within and without, the stronger your body of work will be. You should begin to work with oils and acrylics in your figure work, still life, and landscape work in order to push your range. Once you have expeirimented with enough you will discover where you prefer to focus your attentions.
hmm.. personally, as far as loose things(This is a really great drawing, but think about form more. The proportions are good) are concerned, I think they should be a bit looser.
As far as tighter things, I think they need to be tighter. Think more about light and form, remember how sharply a form turns from the light, that determines the edges, which are very important.
I agree with Justin a bit, push some of the life drawings just a bit more.
If you had to cut it down, I'd get rid of 'I envy the birds', and the wire tree. Both are by the far the weakest pictures.
The 3D mixed media ones, please keep in, those are some of the most interesting works in the mix, and really show you're range.
As a SCAD graduate, I just have to say, you can get in without submitting a protfolio at all, but good luck with the other colleges.
yeah i should have trashed those ones... but i sent my stuff yesterday ;_;. any ways, yeah im trying to work on my figure drawing alot. they have nude figure drawing Tuesdays and im going to try to go to them.
