    Utah Scholarships!

I'd like to see one of these for every state, I know it's hard for anyone especially us *cough* generally more eccentric artist types to figure this sort of thing out on their own, so let's make this easy for our community.

Then, then as we become amazing artists we can fight state to state for dominance and eventually take over the world.

    Also here is the link for Utah's Local Artist's Group here at CA.org;

Going to Start with the Bigger Schools and Colleges:

NOTE: Deadlines are for specific scholarships or institutions, they will change. There are also other options than just those listed.
ALSO NOTE: Be sure to check out other sections of this sub-forum, there are many national and even internation scholarships you are going to apply for. (see that, I'm making you do it!)

    BYU: Provo

    UVSC: Orem

The Highschool students: Next up is you wee ones

First step is to check your local highschool pages; there are people in your highschool who actually want to help you! I know, it's shocking. Seriously though, you youngin's have a leg up and preference! Sniff, the children are our future.

Here is a sampling I stole from Emily, check them all as they should all apply to you - to apply for. So apply.
    OHS
    TVHS

Yes! Thank you for starting this thread, Tom!

I will certainly back you up on the BYU thing, though I may be biased since that's where I went.

Seriously though, BYU had four students get into the Society of Illustrators Student Competition last year. One won $2,000 and another got $1,000, so I think it's a pretty good place.

I'm also sure there are quite a few digital artists who know of Don Seegmiller as well. He calls BYU home I believe

Something of note for us Utahns,
Came across some Atelier style training here in Utah; workshops for the masses and private instruction for a select few is what I gather.

I also found the website for Wander Lane Studios, which is in Salt Lake City.

It looks they have been having sculpture classes most recently, but have also done figure drawing and painting.

Here's a link to the Salt Lake Rotary Club scholarship page.

    Yearly Scholarships:
"Rotary Club 24 pays tribute to the past accomplishments of 18 Salt Lake high school students and gives their dreams a boost as they wend their way into the next phase of their lives and career with financial assistance that will help pay for the next higher level of their education.

These students will receive Rotary Club scholarships of $2,000 for top recipients, $1,000 for the second tier, and $500 for the third tier."

    Ambassadorial Scholarships:
"The Rotary Foundation sponsors one of the largest and most international scholarship programs in the world. Scholars study in a country other than their own where they serve as unofficial 'ambassadors of good will.'"
"Grant information will be available Spring 2007 for 2008-09."

The Springville Museum of Art holds an annual "Senior Portfolio Review" for high school students.
Representatives from local universities are there and it is "an opportunity for students to receive thousands of dollars in scholarships and financial aid from the participating schools."

Call Natalie Petersen, 489-272, for more information.

no seriously I live here in utah, and I'm freaked out about how to get scholarships in art, and where I should go.

Um what school do you recomend going to around here. I'm looking at the U of U but not sure. I want a degree in Illustration and Filmstudies with emphasis on animation.

Its so cool to have someone so experienced on this site who lives in Utah.
