Davi, stop getting down on yourself and push through the creative block, laziness or whatever the issue is

These anatomy pose references came out real nice man..very strong proportions, forced perspective etc. Try to utilize a few of these and produce some "rough" versions of your Roman/Greek shark/fish project creatures in the same manner as these gesture studies. Thumbnails and quick roughs can always get me out of a rut when I'm feeling down about my work. Try revisiting the alien cow creature, but do some rough small thumbnail sized black and white versions and variations of it. Your colors and textures once again have come a long way and your improvements are definitely noticeable.

btw- If you ever need help with contract related shit just ask and I'll do my best to help.

The stance and action on the figure in the middle is really fantastic- looking at that one I felt like I had an immediate sense of where he is and the stakes of the fight he's in. Nicely captured.

There's a theory that an "Artist's block" is a sign for near-future breakthrough.

I hope that's right, since I have the block once in a while too! Love how the creature is turning out. The background is moody, and the lighting is great. Do you often use references for your background and lighting, or do they just pop out of your mind?

Very solid character roughs up there, try to throw some color and tighten up the lines and make two of them into one piece. See where it goes.

Another thing that usually helps me get through a slump is some very good advice that my fiancee gave me; she's a writer though...
She said, "If you want to get through a slump in your art, make sure to give your characters a little character. Perhaps write like a little paragraph describing what they are, where they are, what they look like, etc. It will help you get a good grasp on the visual side of things. That way you can actually see it on paper before you even begin because of the written notes."

This is what actually helped me learn how to draw some of the stuff that I see in my head. Maybe it will help for you, because she always has great advice to me.
Beautiful coloring on the creature btw, is he evil, good, a neutral grazing, cattle type creature? Make up a little story about him, it keeps your mind flowing

Anyway, have fun always, cya later.

not enough!, i really should be using reference because im very amateur at it :p

As for the slump, its not that i really cant produce art, im just producing some of the stuff i want badly

My pc is a bit broken and the frustration of painting/working on it is driving me batty. Hooking up new PC tomorrow morning though. It's gunna be pretty fast so i might go crazy with the painter X watercolors just cause i can

That new one is cool, great use of texture. It's "head" is a bit on the odd side, but meh, that's your choice hehe

forgot to adjust my painter's starting canvas size.

Oh well, its now a net-only image ;P

Looking good, the shell texture is convincing, it seems like it has spent some time out in the elements. I think maybe the little keyhole-type slits in the shell should be curving back more, to better follow the form of the shell. It looks like a pretty steep part of the shell though so it would probably only be a tiny bit more curve. It's a nitpicky crit- the image as a whole looks good. I really like the design in #939, it's mysterious and a little unnerving, very unique.

yah you are probably right about the curvature of the cut out parts, which i would have fixed but Mike Corriero mentioned it gives it a "snail-like" imagery to the design, so i think ill keep it "wrong".

Davi, why do you render on a white background?

The spore creatures and the figure studies are looking very nice. I think the crimson crab could use a lot more blue bounce from the bottom.

Wow. *.* Awesome progress on the Crimson Crab.

Also, I love the style of your figure drawings. I like that I can pick out the thick brush strokes and get a bit of insight, but that you still manage to convey the poses so clearly.

    Awesome work, davi.

First you think you just have a simple case of the crabs... then the bumps appear... and a burning sensation is soon to follow.

Really liking the leveling up progression though, how it starts out as a little creature and turns into a mean beastie. Are you going to do more in this leveling up format?
