    Dustwind's sketchthing

Hey all Long time lurker, maybe first time poster?
I'm an RCAD sophomore illustration major, transfer from Uarts in Philly. I'm one of the hordes of people looking to do monsters and characters for videogames and movies. I grew up traveling around rennaisance festivals with my mom, so most of my stuff has a fantasy bend to it. Uh..yeah. I'll try to scan some of my figure stuff, but for now..have some monsters. Banzai!

    That dragon is awesome!!!
I'm definatly gonna keep an eye on this thread, can see great things coming from it.
I think the only real thing you need to work on is perspective.
Hope that helps and thanx fro startin a sketchbook. ^.^

Speedpaint for my figure class, figs referenced from SCA/Renfest photos

I'm trying to get better at putting figures on a page in meaningfull ways, rather than stuff like the two above where it's just "THIS THING IS COOL.LOOKIT!". Not that that doesnt have its place, but, picture making is good stuff to learn

Tentatively titled "Sir Gregori the Foolhardy and the Dragon of Lyre's Cave", or possibly Liar's cave, that might make for a better story

I would have said "nice start for a SB" but then noticed the MASSIVE time gap.
You have some very nice, clean and interesting stuff in that Portfolio. But like was note earlier maybe you could still work on that perspective? I noticed this on the Deseprate Plea piece, like the characters poses don't match the backround.
Other than that very sweet stuff, keep it up.

Yeah that's definatley been an achilles heel of mine, I feel this weird need to show ALL.OF.THE.CHARACTERS.

    XP

    Bleh.

Thanks though! I'm gonna keep trying for it, here's a peice I did last week in class. There was a fair amount of concessions I had to make that may or may not have hurt the piece overall..but..XP yeah ok here's the piece

if I can manage to find my camera I'll upload some oils

Ok one more, and it's actually a sketch this time XP

Next assignment in class is to design a pulp cover.

There's going to be a version with type, I halfway want the title to be ""It came from the internet!!!"

I'll be redrawing the gun and fitting the guy with something other than boxers soon.
