    Work Brings Freedom

    Hey guys, well i did this last night to get back into painting with oils(been awhile)...anyways this is about the concentration camps germany had in ww2...the germans seen as death itself with theyre lie below.arbeit macht frei:work brings freedom.I may do another as i didnt realize until i was about done..my skull was way too small for the helmet...oh well here it is anyway

    Dude, nice drawing but the word mact is wrong, it should be MACHT. other than that i like the picture

    with the size of the skull have you thought about just using that and just turning it into a childs skull? It might bring a darker aspect to the image.

    I like! The color shiftiness of the background is lovely.
    Only thing that really bothers me is that the darks don't seem.... dark enough? Wouldn't the shadow of the inside of the helmet be darker than the outer front lip sort of thing.

    bluefruitbowl:thanks man...as to the lighting on the inside of the helmet:the light is coming from below...so the inside would not be as dark as the outside

    To the painting teqnicue: this is a oil painting? It's look like a watercolor painting ... you using too much terpentine

    designboot:I never said nor did i intend for this painting to say that german soliders died at the concentration camps...you have misunderstood the whole concept....think before you spout your mouth off.As for the use of turpentine that was a stylistic choice....oil paintings come in many forms.If I have misinterpreted your tone then i apologize...if not take a closer look.
