It's about time for an update. Some studies, thumbnails and background for a fighting game prototype, crappy animation experiments and some personal sketches. Enjoy and leave your comments!

We finally started with our last game project for this year. These are some rough thumbnails I did to explore the feeling of the game. Still a lot of work ahead.

Sweet updates! I particularly like the thumbnails. I was doing some plants' thumbnails just few days ago and although they turned out horrible (I was using gray markers for the first time in years) I had fun. You know how much I like playing with organic shapes.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks for dropping in mate. Now that you're talking about it, I would like to see you try some technical stuff. Who knows what you might come up with.

    destinyapocalypse
Glad you like them! Just crappy experiments though. Now I'm busy doing the real work.

    Nettle mountain
That's how they looked on the reference. Maybe they were distorted or something.

Here's a little sketch, just to get away from drawing ladybugs and plants all day.
Inspired by a drawing did two years ago. I will put more work into it later on. Crits are always welcome.

    looking really good man!
you've been busy with some intersting work, working on animation looks like a blast!
i really like that last character you posted, very good pencils and has definately lost a lot of stiffness.I'd make sure i work with contrast even more, see how "explicit" that thing he's got on his forehad is, just cause its a bit darker.Putting that kind of contrast with patterns coulp puh it even further imho.
When working on characters like this one or the knight i'd really check out some good reference for the pose, cause imho it makes half of the personality or a sketch.Pose yourself, look out how other artist handled it, look for ref.

    Really good job
    ciao!

Thanks for dropping by bro! I need to check out reference more often indeed. However for that last character I did walk around the room trying to get the right feeling for his pose. I had a class in 3d animation the last 3 weeks and they taught us to act out the scenes before you sit down to animate them. It makes your life a lot easier.

Here's some more stuff for my school project. It's going to be a 2d exploration game for the iphone. I did various experiments trying to decide on the narrative and the feeling of the world along with the game designers and then I started to work on the main character. The project is a little chaotic due to some problems that occurred along the way, but hopefully I'll be able to pull of something decent in the end. Crits and comments are highly aprreciated.

I think it looks interesting, kinda makes me wish i had an Iphone so i could try it out when you'r done. Like the green colours better than the purple/pink btw, don't really know why but it seems more fitting somehow.
