Thanks man I hope my color skills will be as good as yours someday.

These are two other concept illustrations I did for my schoolproject and a character sketch to experiment with a different style. Enjoy and leave your comments.

Still very solid contruction i see, keep the flow/rhythm of the figure in mind too though so that they don't become too stiff. The crouching girl looks really, really good.

Thanks for the comments mate! I still have a hard time finding the balance between the flow and the structure. I'll just need to practice more.

    Thanks buddy!

This is a character I designed for a school assignment called knowledge transfer, meaning that as 4th year students we have to pass down some knowledge to new students. I decided to write a tutorial about character creation for videogames toghether with my classmate Jochem Schut, who is a 3d artist, in wich we explain the whole process step by step. To give you a short summary of the story behind the character, it's a character for a 3rd person RPG who got exiled from his tribe because he can't fly. Now he wants to prove himself by going on a deadly adventure trough the forest. It was a little scary at first since I still consider myself a noob in this stuff. I delivered the concept drawing and the model sheet and he modelled the character in 3d. Now we're finishing the toturial. When I was making the modelsheet I focused too much on trying to make it accurate that it turned out very stiff. I'll have to practice more with this part in the future. Anyway let me know what you guys think.

dude, that's one cute little critter you got there! Great to see the whole process, you give a lot of insight into your thought process, I like! But: What are the "electrifying" maces on his antennae? And 'm not sure about the colours, but I don't know where it's meant for, so I guess have to trust you on that one Keep it up!

Thanks for dropping by Tom! The maces on his antennae are his weapons. Where would a good game be without some violence? He can magically make this extra pair of antennae longer or shorter at will. If you mean the colors of his body, I wanted to make him feel royal because he belongs to a special breed of beetles which are superior than the rest, but at the same time unconfident. After some research on color sybolism this was the color combination that best conveyed his personality for me.

Nice sketchbook. The only suggestion i would make for improvement is to work on texture and edges. It will really make your stuff pop even more. Maybe try to use crosshatching and contour hatching a bit more.

yes, yes, beautiful studies and concepts (and figures too!). Careful with those ankle bones though! (ankle bone facing the inside is higher than the the bone facing the outside.)

    great work!

Great work on that last WIP! Really love it I like your pencil drawings...especially the king samurai. I think your rendering technique could be pushed though and so can your line quality. Great stuff though, looking forward to more

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Reading these positive comments on my work really helps me to stay motivated. It's been a long time since I posted again. I'm very busy with my graduation project right now. I'll post and tell more about it later. For now here are some pen sketches from my small sketchbook. I'm starting to get really comfortable working with a pen, especially because it forces me to be as accurate as possible since I can't erase. Enjoy and leave your comments.

Hi fantasyartist, I like how you handled the cars. I find it very hard to draw them. The only thing I can suggest is that you work some more on the faces. Keep remembering the proportions of the skull.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still struggling with getting my head proportions right, espcially when I'm doing quick sketches. I have the tendency to draw heads too small.
