The guy is lookin' fine so far ... HOWEVER the lady needs some work on her body (as you probably know already haha) - liiiike where her thighs meet the trunk of her body, shoulders and that one muscle at the top that somehow escaped my train of thought that everyone knows. You know.. above the bicep, has 3 parts, reaches halfway down the upper arm.. erg.. x_x Anywho get some reference or research in an anatomy book how that goes. :0

Otherwise, love the style you got goin' on!

yeah i know, naomiful. i was just trying to save what i had so far instead of redoing the whole pose.. but, i guess that's what i have to do now. if you noticed from the previous poses, the anatomy was waaaaaaaay off and i guess i had no chance of saving it so it looked alright.

it's a good learning experience tho... now i know that no matter how much you want someone to pose that way, you'll never get it if the human body can't contort that way.

well, it's been a while.. time to update! i've been working on some sketches and i've been tinkering with that girl with the wings.

still tinkering.. yep. i think i'll be pickin' at her for a while til' i'm happy with it. i like the wings but, not much else. the other 2 are just some quick sketches.. i might color them up one of these days...

those quick sketches look good. I would like to see you paint them. I the legs on the first sketch might need a rework though.

I DO like your stylized characters alot. The last sketch of the girl is very cool. Love the face design and expression.
Maybe, the leg on the left on previous drawing, is too far out from trunk. May need to be under arm rather than beyond line of hand.

So, where are you working now? Understood you quit your last job.

The guy with the cloak is looking pretty cool - quite dynamic! With the bike (it's wip right?), you might need to introduce a few more darks at bottom as it's getting flattened out right now.

    Peace, update more!

    hey shidoken, great stuff here!

your work reminds me of some of the art in capcom games, like mega man or some of the street fighter series, esp that big guy in post#99.

    more please!

    thanks guys!

sorry for the lack of updates... i've been going thru some tough times trying to find some freelance work.

a bit of info on my latest work, i was doing this design for a t-shirt and well.. it was scrapped. i'll be working on a different one now since they said this was too "dark" and "serious" for what it was. i guess i'll just have to put this one in a folder.

OMG! I've been gone for almost 3 years!!

    Hi guys.

Well, the thing is, I've been helping out my mom with her video store and from the looks of things, I haven't been drawing. I guess I have been sketching though, from time to time but, nothing along the lines of "becoming career oriented".

So, starting today, I've managed to join that Sketchbook Clinic to see what the fuss was about and it seemed very helpful. I think I'll start by slowly drawing daily and maybe get some good help from mentors or peer groups to help me land a job in the near future. Economy's tough right now and the bills are piling high.

Any step for me is gonna be a good one. If art isn't right for me, well, I guess I'll do what my dad says and work as a chiropractor.

Anyways, I posted this in the Sketchbook Clinic thingy but I might as well post here too. I'm posting some of my other stuff too.

Also, is it right for me to dig up this old tread or should I start a new sketchbook thread for the new year?

Love your work and those last pages of sketches are great! I'd love to se more life drawings and studies to see how you tackle the ordinary.
Quick question, when you are doing t-shirt designs what format and resolution are they usually looking for?
    Thanks, keep it up!

silvestri99: well, i actually go for 200res on a 11x17 but, some t-shirt places differ. Some guys want 72res with 8x11 which is kind of absurd to me but, i guess it's what they print at. also, check what kind of color mode they have their machines at. most of them carry RGB while others have CMYK for some weird reason.

for posters and tshirts and most media, i tend to stick to the resolution i mentioned above. i know other guys go for 300+ but, my strokes tend to break at that point. also, if you don't have a good computer, tons of layers in photoshop doesn't help either.. heheh.

i'll try some life drawings and studies tomorrow. i guess i'll draw the customers walking in or something. didn't get much work done today.

    Hey, there!

I did a paintover of your B&W female sketch. I hope you don't mind!

    Sketchbook by Tom

The result isn't quite as elegant or stylized as you may be aiming for, but the proportions are more reasonable, and the anatomy is tweaked.

I hope the gif speaks for itself as far as what I did to it

wow! thanks seithe. some good observation there. well, i took the crit very seriously and i knew something was off too. i made some changes and i think it turned out ok. still working on this tho.. some of the shading is pretty tricky to me.. either that or it's been a while since i've done this. hopefully, i'll get my A game soon.
