    Sketchbook by Tom

Well, I thought I might as well put some stuff up on this forum since I've been a member for a while. I haven't really done anything in this because of work and whatnot. Another reason why is because I lost my sketchbook a few days ago and I can't find it anywhere.. I took pictures of some of the pages and I thought I should post some of the remains on here.

Also, my job is pretty lame right now. I need to get a job at a game company or something. I'm more into concepts and characters at the moment..

Well, without further adew, here's some of what was in my sketchbook.

edit: i put all the pictures that i had on the next post and put up a work-in-progress pic of a girl i did a long time ago when i was still in school. (i'm actually doing it over a bit.. it was a sketch.)

Hey there. You have some real neat stylization going on there. The motorbike is my favorite. Good stuff so far.

Hey shidoken sorry that your sketchbook disappeared. I know how it is to lose something you've put alot of yourself in. But, I'm sure you know all that talent and ideas are still there. Your stuff is really really good. I can tell you have fascility with design in general. Sense of keeping things proportional according to it's design. Definately have some cool characters and renders. I'm doing the same, coming back to my traditional drawing roots after about 7-8 years in the work grind, and then 3 more thrown into traditional studies. Welcome back. Will be checking back in here for sure.

Thanks AztcFireFlower. I'm actually looking for a different job and I've been in the wrong field for about a year. I guess I have that sense of proportion because of college.

It's been almost 4 years out and I feel like I've wasted all that time doing something other than concepts. I'm trying to get back into it tho.

Here's some other sketches I found in my computer of my lost sketchbook. These are the last ones that I could find. I was going to clean them up, paint them and get some in my portfolio... There were some other ones that I wanted to put in too but, now that it's gone.. I kinda miss it.

I also put in one of my recent doodle sheets. I do these now since I don't have a sketchbook. It's still fun and I think I'm getting better. Just random stuff keep popping in my head so I kinda fill up the whole thing.

Those sketchbook pages are absolutely great! Your faces really show some nice expressions and the bodies have a good feeling of motion.

Those pages of pencils are sweet. Yeah, I can see why you'd miss them. A lot of fine work. You don't have far to go to pick it back up. What job do you have now?

Answer to post # 11: I see. However, you've kept up the skill levels and motivation to continue developing. I think it's a matter of getting your work out there because you have the ideas and skill. You are already quite advanced in your design experience.

Hope you catch this question: Where did you go to school?

this is something i'm working on right now. i really don't like the arms and it's kinda late to go back since i used a ball point pen. i think i'll redo them in photoshop tho... anyways, i'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out my anatomy all over again. i'm reading up on a lot of books and even some online references..

to everyone who stopped by, thanks for looking at my online sketchbook! feel free to leave any c&c, comments, flame.. wutever.. as long as it's constructive.

wow, i'm loving what you're doing with your work! the stylization is definitely well done, as opposed to those who just use it as a crutch. you pull it off brilliantly. i'd love to see a more finished up piece from you.

trying to figure out the light source at the top of my head. man... has it been that long since i've done this?! i really gotta go back to the basics. anyway, i changed the arms around on this thing and now i'm just practicing my light, dark, reflective, translucent... uhh study.

    it's pretty hard.

Post #12- Nice. All that good stuff is in there. Just keep bringing it out onto paper and machine and this SB will be leave the one you lost in the dust.
Do you only work in Photoshop? Like your color-ups, as well.

for a long time now, i've been working on photoshop. i really like the old one better, like ps 7? but i've been playing with cs2 recently. i tried painter a long time ago but it wasn't my thing then.. i might try it out later on tho since ryan church is using it too.

    I'm looking for work!
