    blob

    the concept for this came from a doodle i did in class. i'd be really appreciative of critiques or tips for useing photoshop because it's the first thing that i've done

    on the sketchbook/wip threads.
    as for help keep looking for tutorials
    they're all over this cool site,
    and above all, paint everyday.

    What kind of critique are you looking for on this?

    For what it is, I think you did good. I'd get rid of the bright orange outline on the blob, and add a definitive ground plane. The shadows appear to be...under the ground? Or maybe the blob is floating?

    If he is indeed floating, I would remove the 'splatter' bits around him; it appears as though he impacted and is on the ground.
