Dude, you really need to start hyphenating. What color are Orange County Choppers? What color are the Black Plague survivors? What color are Blue Mountain gliders?

    What is a mountain anyway?

In Washington we have REAL mountains, some of the rest of the world say they have Mountains, but they are really just foothills!

This is my first COW and/or CA weekly community activity entry! w00t! I just got a Wacom for Christmas so I am looking forward to participating in these each week to always improve. Thanks for your time to look at my attempt.

01/05/07 - I hope to have my finished version done tonight, no pressure. This has been a great topic as shown by the incredible entries thus far. Good work to everyone in the thread. I am learning a lot.

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

    Scientific Name :Cornholimus Analiptula Coctus
    Commonly known as: Flatface Floater

The Flatface Floater is a carnivorous creature of flight indigenous to the planet Coczinbalze. It purches high on the ridges overlooking the valeys of the Toranal Rigde Mountains. Watch out because any warm blooded animal is prey to this beast of the sky. This creature has been known to even devour it's own as it's territorial habits make it a fierce predator.

It's blue and glowing green colors are known all through the mountains by the indigenous creature whom also inhabit the terrain whom take cover whenever the Flatface Floater is spotted.

    OOOooo the excitement!

This is my very first post. And I must say the blue mountain glider sounds like an awesome idea. I got so excited I went to work at it immediately and decided to post while I let the fixative dry on the sketches. eeeee!

    Cool idea guys!
It will be fun to see everyones entries.

    Here is mine.

Update - Followed Maoi's advice and variated the color on the cliffs, smothened it and modified the cliff so it dont collide with the tip of the "nose"
    Update - I'm done now.

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

    Blue Mountain Glider

"This peaceful creature lives high up in the mountains and glides around above the ground.
The fur keeps it warm when it is gliding about around the coldest parts and has soft organic bubbles under it so it simply bounces of any sharp stones or pillars if it should collide.
The "gliders" are held up by the thin "arms" that hold it like a tennis-net.
Because of it's peaceful nature sometimes birds rest on it and lost or tired travelers can jump up on it's back and ride it until they find a familiar spot again.
The Blue Mountain Glider is very quiet and could easily glide past you from behind without anyone noticing so it is a treat for mountain climbers to spot these creatures gliding around due to the fact that there only live around 2-4 Blue Mountain Gliders on one mountain."

    Siamese Lizard

    Here's my entry:

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

The Siamese Lizards of the Belnorthian Highlands spend most of their time doing two things, arguing, and gliding. Sometimes both at the same time, but not to the most positive of results. These harmless herbivores using the flaps between their necks to glide from mountain to mountain in search for food, and are also known to use their large webbed feet in aid of steering in strong wind currents. The heads are recorded to have varying degrees of intelligence, with the most intelligent one normally being the center, and the dumbest one routinely steering them off-path to either the right or left.

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

    Name: Oo'buba
    S-Name: Blue Mountain Glider
    Type: Mammal
    Diet: Herbivore

Oo'buba, also called the Furry Salmon, is a very strange kind of mammal. Nature provide them a five pairs of soft, leathery wings, that are to weak to grant Oo'bubas an ability to fly, but those wings give them ability to glide gently. They nuptial ritual is very similiar to the salmons - but instead of jumping up the river, Oo'bubas jumpin' up the hill or mountain, and when they reach the peek, they slide gently from the top to impress the female Oo'buba (pic2). Of course, higher mountain grant the Oo'buba with more females attention. Oo'bubas are small, furry limbless creatures (size comparison on pic1). Those little herbivore are harmless to humans.

Lazy- Welcome to CoW, my friend! Glad to see you here. Some crits: Vary the color of the background; make some parts more yellowish and others more red, etc. Especially make sure that the shadows are a different hue than the lit areas, and not just a darker value of the same hue. Clean up your brushwork as well. Take areas with lots of little brush strokes and see if you can blend them into smoother, more continuous areas. The tip of the creature's snout is flush with the side of the cliff, so you need to either move the edge of the cliff upwards or downwards to remove the tangent. Clarify how the wings attach to the body.
Ha, did I critique you enough? Anyway, I think that's a sweet creature design.

So do the mountains in hawaii..

Nah, only a few of our mountains do that.

We have 'real' mountains. The ones you see on TV are disguised.

The Most photographed mountain in the world is from washington..But I don't remember which one...I've seen it though.

Haven't participated for a while, but felt motivated to attempt another COW.

    Here are my first thoughts

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

Description to follow, but it's essentially a cloud grazer that travels in schools. And it's blue.

    ---------------------------------------

Update after more hours than should be necessary for so little progress.

    ----------------------------------------
Last update before final, the end is in sight but struggling to see how I'm gonna finish it.

    ------------------------------------------

It's taken me all day, but here's the final. It could do with a few tweaks but I really have to go and do some other stuff (I've deleted WIPS other than first rough)

    C.O.W. - #072: Blue Mountain Glider

The cloud grazer lives in the thin atmosphere of a low G frozen planet. It is a social animal living in herds and surviving on helium plants. (Brain is also frozen, that's the best description I'm going to come up with).
