hey good result, i like the pose... one suggestion: perhaps more contrast, or darker zones, for example the far leg and hand and portions of head hair...
i don't know, but very good indeed.
    good luck with your portfolio...

Nice work with the werewolf. Jens got a point, more contrast and a shadow on the ground to give it more depth. Maybe a gnarled tree and a full moon in the background couldn't hurt either. Good work, Keep it up

thanks for stopping by my sketchbook, i just looked through your work nice stuff especially the hand studies. some pointers though try working with different media, switch up the paper, use different pencils, just simple changes this will help you alot in the creative process it will also allow you to use alot of different materials to achieve new affects. your line weight could use some work it has gotten better since the begining of your sketchbook. mechanical pencils are great, i use regular prismacolor and prismacolor col-erase most of the time, these give you two different line weights off the bat. or use a non photo blue prisma to rough out the lines and then go over with a mechanical pencil or a black prisma when you scan or copy your drawings the blue doesn't get picked up or it is very easy to remove. hope this helps

Those figure drawings are nice, and the werewolf turned out awesome.

I can understand wanting a break, especially when art becomes more work than fun (like, say, when doing a portfolio! ). Just don't stay away too long.

Nice work Envisor and thanks for the kind words in my sketchbook. From the start of your thread I can see that your figures are improving and it sure seems that you'll be getting a handle on the drawing hands based on the amount of good studies you're doing. Draw from life as often as you can - a common phrase of advice I know, but it is always good exercise.

The werewolf is going great. The one thing that I would critique is the tangent happening on the lower lip and how it is resting on the line of the shoulder and bicep of the creature. It isn't a bad thing to allow some overlap and let the shoulder block the lower part of the mouth just a little. It'll give it a more dimensional appearance. Don't take too long of a break, we are all curious to see more!

Been a while since I last visited...and you made tons of stuff!!!
I really like those characters. You said there's too much details on one( i think first one on this page) but I don't think there's such thing as "too much detail"... It's just the way that picture is. And it's very good.
And the werewolf-man, that one rocks. I just wish I could see more contrast but I'm always moaning about that

By the way- where are you sending your portfolio to and how is it supposed to look? I could use some advice on how to finallly use my pics.
If you've got some tips for me let me know.
Maybe you could e-mail me? If you feel like it of course.

Listing- Thx for the kind words.
yeticatcher- Thx. Drawing from life is a great excercise, I do at least 4-5 a day on life studies. When im on a break, I really dont do nothing, I think about what kinds of things to draw next, so expect more goodies soon.
Grim Reaper- Thx man. I sent my portfolio to CCAD (Columbus College of Art and Design), its in Ohio state, its one of the largest private art schools in the US. Hope i get in, Ive been getting some great support from others that have got accepted.
On the portfolio it is good to have at least 10-15 pieces, on the college website they had a page on how to develope agood protfolio. But they said to pick out your 2 best pieces and put one in front to grab the attention of the reviewer and one at the end to leave a lasting impression on him/her as well. Ill email you with more details.

By the way- are you wanting to go to a certain college or for a job in the industry. because sometimes they can be different.

Hey, man, really nice anatomy studies. Very nice rendering. I usually make my studies a lot rougher, but I like that you're going the extra step.

The doberman renders are real nice.

On your characters, it seems you have some consistent proportion issues between the two halves of the leg. The lower leg on most of your characters (including the full-figure studies from Bridgman's book) are only about 2/3 the length they need to be. The rest of your stuff seems proprtioned correctly, as far as the torso and head and arms relating to the upper part of the leg, but the lower part of the legs is just too short. It's making the poses unweildy, because the lower leg just doesn't look strong enough to support the weight above it.

Overall, thouh, I'm really liking your stuff. Keep working on the studies, you're doing great with those.

    the perfect kinda studies!!!
    -try using pen when you do you studies cause;
    ---it helps with accuracy
    ---you cant erase
---get rid of ambiguity in you lines
---focus only on contour and core shadow (the most important aspects of drawing ...in my opinion)
---forces you to make mistakes, accept them, and move on w/out the compulsive erasing
---forces you to make bad drawings and learn from them!!
---it helped me and it will help you
---you first need to learn accuracy and speed (accuracy+speed=awesome drawing skillzzzz)

    thats my 2cents
---good luck with you app to CCAD! im sure youll get in!!

Hey sorry to here about your mom. I hope she's doing alright. As to producing sketches and such, don't worry about it. You don't want to force art. Creativity can't be rushed. Just pick it up when you feel ready. I can imagine your stress level right now. This site will still be here when you post again Take care!

That's bad to hear man... I hope she gets better soon....
But maybe you could actually use the way you're feeling now, sadness, anxiety and worry, to create some interesting piece...
You see, few years ago when my grandmother was dieing I sat with her and when she fell asleep I wrote a poem... It turned out to be the best poem I ever wrote 'cos it was honest and real. Maybe it applies to drawing as well? That state of mind disasters put you into can be the purest source of inspiration that ever existed...

Sometimes an artist can get inspired by seeing light on the wall casting intersting shadow... or a stranger on the bus looking a bit different... You can call it selfishness but as artists we are selfish creatures feeding on emotions... Then we share our visions with other people... so I guess it turns out not to be selfish at all.
What I'm trying to say is: sometimes it is good to be sad 'cos it's giving us wider perspective. And I'm sorry for rumbling about my nan on her deathbed 'cos I really hope your mum is gonna be fine... It's just to prove something.
    Take care!

My god I've missed out on 5 pages of updates!

Damn you've been busy and it shows too, your anatomy/proportions are looking more convincing/confident as you go through the pages. Kudos!
