    Question PC Builds

    Hi all,

I'm digging through the internet for information on espicy PCs.
I was wondering what kinds of sweet machines some of you may be running on.
So what are your builds? Have you run into things that you avoid like the plague or even found things that make life sparkle in whole new shiny kinds of ways?

i am going through the same thing right now. i realised i need a new pc when a couple of weeks ago i spent 36 hours rendering a short 10 second animation in maya.

i need a good pc and i am on a bit of a budget so i have been looking at refurbished dells. what i am looking at is a core 2 duo processor, 2 gigs of ram and a 256 mb nvidia graphics card - i heard nvidia work better than radeon in maya.

i think what you should get depends on what you will be using it for, games, 3d, 2d art?

It'll be used primarily for all the things you listed Oven. Actually, I'll most likely be running 3D packages, Photoshop, and games at the same time.

I'm waiting for one of those quadcore processors to burn through my renders. Using 3dsmax and rendering with vray would give me 8 render buckets with a quadcore...mmmmm, sweet sweet buckets. I only get 1 at home, and at work they have 4 (dualcore with hyperthreading), but 8 would be a dream. And 4 gigs of ram would be nice too.

On a budget thought I'd get a core 2 duo with 2 gigs of ram like oven g love said. That would still own my old athlon 2600.
