Fantastic Four II (AKA Rise of the Silver Sufer) trailer

    http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/f...esilversurfer/
I never even bothered to see the first FF movie, but if the rest of the movie lives up to this one scene I may be tempted this time.

ehhh the first one was a total fecal matter smoothie.. in my opinion. this one doesnt look to be much better, maybe a diet shit shake. to make: combine way too animated cgi, ridiculous one-liners, bad scripting, a bad plot, and top it off with extremely bad actors. blend and serve next summer - JAG

that pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

Anyone know if they're gonna have Galactus? If so, they'd better make him 200 feet tall and not just some normal sized stunt guy in purple armor in the attempt to make him more movie realistic.

If they can make this a nice simple movie thats not too cliche for its own good and try their best to make some intense storyline, it might actually be decent.

I think that for the 6 - 10 years olds that this film is geared towards it is going to rock their socks off. Considering they are the ones who are going to buy the toys, the pj's, the videogames, the posters, the comics, the shirts, the lunchbox, the DVD, the extended DVD, the Director's cut DVD, the extended uber Director's cut box set DVD with bookcase ends edition...it better win them over.

For all of us over that age group alas we have to suffer through another FF film, but then again, we are the one's paying to see the dilusional film written for all of us film and comic book savvy fans we hope to see...but won't.

Yeah the first one was sooooo bad I checked out this trailer out of sheer morbid curiosity.. And a chance to see Alba in her tights again....

But it actually didn't look bad, but what trailers do. We probably saw the 2 minutes of the movie that didn't completely suck.

The Thing in a tux is still about the stupidest looking thing I've ever seen. He reminds me of Grover from SS after he's been out in the sun too long.

Puttin' on my nerd hat... yes the deal with SS is that he is a scout or Herald for Galactus - a malevolent devourer of worlds. SS sees the devastation and suffering wrought by his deeds time and time again and begins to empathise with Galactus' victims. SS finally betrays Galactus by attempting to thwart and divert Galactus away from inhabited planets... if you really wanna nerd it up check these links:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Surfer

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactus

My guess would be yes Galactus would be a major player in this film if SS is on the scene. It would be difficult to have one without the other. I actually think this could be a really fun film if done in a mighty and bold way. I'm gonna get my hopes up about it -Ray

Much like the first movie, you'll just have to lower your expectations to enjoy this film. That's what I did with the first one, and I liked it.

I agree to an extent. Although I kind of went into this one thinking it would suck and still came away disappointed. Even my 12 year thought it sucked.

Exactly. What happens when your already low expectations still aren't met?
Life is too short to waste it on crap, especially crap you know ahead of time is going to be crap.

It looks entertaining atleast. I've given up on finding errors and cliches in comic book films. All they're suppose to do is keep you awake, and interested. And no matter how stupid they are, they usually atleast do that much.

That trailer was better than the entire other movie

...which of course i deny ever existed. I went to the video store and saw this movie with jessica alba and some other guys on it with a number or something...its a good thing they're starting out the fantastic 4 franchise by introducing the silver surfer!

hopefully they introduce dr. doom later on! man i hope he's awesome and doesnt shoot shitty lightning or have some fucked up skin thing that turns him into metal...cause man that would SUCK

I think the screenplay and direction are what hobbled the first one so much. Despite all that I think in the end Dr. Doom turned out pretty well. And you have to admit, they did nail the FF almost perfectly. Second only to Spidey or the Hulk. But it was the storyline that sucked fat ones for me.

Hopefully all that will be fixed with this one. Just the thought of seeing Galactus is making me as giddy as I was when I first got into comics But....I ain't holding my breath that they won't cock it up in a Hollywood style Galactic scale. The worst case scenario being that the Silver Surfer actually isn't a herald of Galactus and he's working on his own.

*time to show old comic geek days* If I remember right wasn't Ghost Rider the only person who could bring down Galactus because he made him feel all the pain and suffering he had caused to his victims all at once? Ghost Rider has always been one of my fav's... Maybe he'll make an appearence too considering the Ghost Rider movie is coming out next month. Time will tell I guess
