I saw his concert on TV two weeks ago, in that purple costume from the first photo, 73 years, he was jumping and dancing all over the stage and played piano and drums... He was very energetic, transferred this crazy mood to me. I'm sad he died.

When i heard the news this morning i was genuinely bummed out... somehow the fact that he still held it down and was living in georgia over in augusta (or... "disgusta") was a really cool thing to think about for me, truly this man did an incredible service to modern pop music. At one point in time, when he recorded 1962's Live at the Apollo, the teenage mania for him and his music was blindingly intense--and it absolutely carries over on the record too, believe you me. The kind of performance (think... Johnny cash's riotous Live at Folsom Prison performance) where the crowd is so into what's happening that listening later on you hardly believe what you're hearing.

there are so many great lines that he penned, the only one i can really recall at this time though is the following.
    "...i don't know karate, but i know c-razy..."

I literally grew up with this man's music, right from the start. It's a very sad and too quiet day in our house...

I remember impersonating him for a high school talent show my senior year. He was such a character. My Dad is a huge fan of him as well, so he will be truly missed. "He had soul, and he was super bad." My prayers go out to his fam' -

He was a prolific guy, RIP.

I hope Muhammad Ali doesn't cark it anytime soon, that guy was one of my idols growing up.
