    Photoshop C3 Beta released!!!

    Hi people,

I hope this is not old already.
Seems that Adobe has granted us a sneakpeak at the soon to be released Photoshop C3. This Beta can only be used if you already have a legal version of a Adobe product... you also need to obtain a second beta-password to play with beta longer than two days.
It looks like a decent update, even better for the Mac users since it supports the new Intel tech. in the new Macs.

    Get the Beta here:

    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitl...bs%5Fphotoshop

Here's a review of the new features:

    http://www.photoshopuser.com/cs3/sk_features.html

    Cheers!

...and the shitheads release a beta with a critical intel mac-only bug, you can't see the shape of the brush, only a crosshair similar to that of the precise mode

Did they squeeze that rotate canvas function in there?

I don't think they added that. There's a thread over at cgtalk I've been reading. Not many additions for artists. If they just added a screen rotate and a larger color palette it would be perfect.

so, I have a student version of CS2, Can I install this thing ?
Also, is it gonna "update " cs2 ?? or create a completely new "directory"
so when I later (tomorrow probably) delete this beta, will i be able to use CS2
again without install it again ??

Thanks

I agree that this CS3 is not revolutionairy, the interface and the "Device Central" option are the main changes. The Rotate Canvas option and a contant open "color picker", like you have in Painter, is still missing... Really, that would make Photoshop awesome.

Dtemp, I can't say with certainty but I think you would have no problem installing CS3. It's not a upgrade, it's a stand-alone program so you should be able to run CS2 like before. Don't kill me when it does fuck up!

I cannot comprehend why they don't add a constantly open colour picker.. That's what it really really really needs..

I'd like to see PhotoShop have a color wheel like Painter's. It's always on screen and it's larger than PS's color palette. You can use the color palette but if I had to make a complaint, it's pretty tiny when you are running your monitor at a high resolution. If they had a color palette like the color picker (the color picker is that big color window that opens when you click the swatch on the toolbar) on screen all the time that would be cool. Well, maybe not that big but something you can pick hue, saturation and value all in one choice.

ANPA swatches + swatch palette > painter colour wheel

1 click to select an approximate colour (via swatches) or 3 clicks to select an exact colour (via colour chips) is a superior solution to 2 clicks to select every colour.

That said, adobe should still implement a colour wheel selector for completeness.

    Any word on upgrade pricing?

Edit: upon playing for a while, I conclude that smart filters will be the most abused new feature. Though it is a potentially very cool feature if used sanely - i.e. gaussian blur, noise, sharpen etc. (glass distort makes good heat haze). I'm disappointed that it only controls the opacity of a filter and not contextual intensity. Expect to see a sharp rise in the number of people doing those fake miniature photos.

All in all, however, too few new features to justify CS2->CS3
