    Good idea!
    Like the last ref-girl.
Hopefully you're gonna keep it up.

    Maybe I also should start a sketchbook-thread..

not too keen on the last two, although i can't pinpoint what I think's wrong with it, but there's a lot of stuff you've posted that shows potential. love the helmut newton one, and those four heads from reference look good too. have you got any anatomy/figure drawing books on the go? i was thinking that that might make your blue coloured characters much stronger.

    keep on posting!

    hey guys, some new stuff..

    school, again, sucked:
    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!

    done on the way home:
    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!

warming up at home, again (after getting wet in a shower of rain) - quick tone and gesture study from ref:
    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!

and kind of a concept, body (exc. head & breast) from ref, other stuff by me :

    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!

got suggestions? I have to work on tone and shading, got some tips?

    thanks for the comments guys!
@willdrawforfood: nah, I got no anatomy books... it sucks, I know. Gotta get my hands on one of them. AND a wacom

nice work, jeff. i like the colors on the blue mech-dude a lot. as far as tips go, i'd say make sure you get the proportions blocked in correctly, even on the shorter poses. for lighting, a simple statement that's done well works a lot better than a lot of details done poorly. make sure all the parts are there (highlight, core shadow, shadow, reflected light). See fredflickstone's threads in the life drawing section... he's got some great tutortials.

this is nice stuff- i like the style as well. looks like u have a pretty good grasp on anatomy though its sort of hard to tell from these pics. I guess other than that shading could be more consistent but then again these are just sketches. good stuff

Bretton: thanks, mate. Yeah Pumpkins are great! what's your favourite song/album?

kinokuniya: yeah, you're right, I definitely have to work on my shading - that's what I'm trying to atm.

LadyLioness: Indeed. I try to update every day, but it somehow seems to boil down to a 2 - max. 3 - day period.

    here's another one:
the right guy is a buddy of mine..
    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!

did I mention already how much I suck w/o ref? And I'm too damn slow in drawing witth em'. Anyways I try to improve..

    nice work man!
your portraits are killer, I esp. like the SP. the marks are very interesting and the eyes are very intense. The eyes are the most important part, they can make or break the picture - looks like you nailed it.

I'd also encourge you to work on your bots, If it's something you enjoy you coul come up with some unique machinery and designs based on what's in the thread.

    keep it up.

    the answer to your question

    Jj's Porcelina of... RANDOMNESS!
I used watercolor pencils(faber-castell), white out(for the highlight on the helmet), 0.3-0.5 hi-tec-c pens(outlines and details), colored pencils, and a ball point pen(to go over the colored pencils)....
