As somebody said, a really fast improvment. Like your enviros and mechs a lot! some small tip for this one:
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...&postcount=159
the person on the last drawing, try to place the people not exactly there where the eg. tiles on the floor meet or so, not directly on other lines so to speak.

Very good going AK86. I like the mechs. Especially the last one that bears some reminders to steamtime type locomotives. Thanks for the UV Map info. I hope you´re internship will be a success. Since I need to improve on enviros pretty fast due to a change of responsibilities at work, yould you give me hint on how? Thanks

Heya mate, nice meeting you up north! Interesting sketchbook you got here. Im really liking some of your vehicle designs. The spider like machine is a personal favorite, the face just really draws me in.

    Good luck for the future.

You've got a lot of nice work, and some great designs. But one thing I really noticed was it seemed like all of your work had a grey cloud over it. I'll show you what I mean, heres the Demonic Seige Machine with some upped values.

    Andy Kerr - Art

I took the brightness down by 5 and added +23 contrast. I think you have great work, you just have to watch the values a bit more after you've finished, it really helps your work.

Pascallo cheers matey. yeah i think it was a weird subconcious reason why a placed the character there, but I will not do the same mistake again. cheers!

Dishedhahaha glad you like em duuuude

BBwolfcheers. yeah the internship was a huuuge eye opener for me and gave me tonns more confidence in myself and my work. I met a handful of extremely talent artists. Yeah I was also offered a posistion! Knowing that I have a job waiting for me when I graduate has taken so much stress off my mind. Now Iam free to focus on my final year at uni and progressing my art.

Mr Man Yeah friday night at Mojos was a ball. Saturaday was very 'fullfilling too. Shame i hadnt recovered properly from the night before. lol

Mr Delicious Thanks for gracing my sketchbook. Since I noticed your post a few days ago I had notice the recuring problem in my work and have been trying to correct them. I think the major factor for why this keeps occuring may be my monitor. However I think I have corrected now. Neverless I shouldnt be blaming technology. lol

moonster Cheers matey. I had a good time at TT I would to particpate in the comic but like you said I have a tough year ahead of me and I dont really want to commit myself to anything else. I would love to join in a year or so.... hopefully I will be a bit better too. Thanks for dropping by!

Worked through 1.5 sketchbooks since my last post, I think!?!?! I need to get my scanner working again to share some doodles.

    too many lines !!!
Keep things clear and clean. Some are early sketches, i know, but the sooner you get everything organised, the faster and more effectivaly you'll reach what you're looking for.
And the last one has way too many highlights, i dont really know where to start reading.
And maybe some more life drawings ?
Keep working in any case !! :]

Hey man, nice improvements! But! You lost so much with the complicated colors! The sketch was great, try and shade the whole sketch and then color it so you know where all the folds lay correctly just to give you more guidelines for the colors. All too often people lose the quality of the pencils when coloring the image(always happens to me ). I sent you a pm with a couple things I thought may help you.

Dan Valknar Cheers bro. Gald you like them!

Daniel C Yeah as I got half way through that concept paint I just diddnt like some thing about it. I couldnt put my finger on it but I knew there was something wrong. Now I clearly know my errors and I have learned from my mistake. Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook and being critical with my work

Mr.Delicious Yeah thanks again for dropping by and helping me out. I have been trying to improve on the area you stated.

Still havnt got my scanner fixed so I still cant share some pencil doodles. I have been working on the other pilot designs for my game idea.

Driod, Bot, Mechy pilot design. This started off promising but as the paint developed I started to fooking depise the design.

    Andy Kerr - Art

    Andy Kerr - Art

So I redesigned it going for a more industrial looking design.

    Andy Kerr - Art

    Andy Kerr - Art

    'Borgy humany' pilot.

    Andy Kerr - Art

first version of the concept paint. I totally fooked up the perspective in this one. The upper and lower body parts look like they are on different planes.
    Andy Kerr - Art

Fixed it but now I notice that i totally lost the skin tones. That wont take long to fix.

Wow, realy interesting and cool SB! Wonderful use of perspective in your designs and enviros! I am glad to see you took Mr Delicious' advice about values to heart, because the only crit i would have about some of your stuff is that it seemed a bit desaturated and lacking in contrast, but you a fixed that now i see Keep it up, great progression!!!

your designs are cool! some parts look flat tho or deformed in perspective (e.g. the faces). make sure you draw a proper construction.

Hey Ak! I really am digging the sheer variety your sb has to offer, a few 3d models, some vehicles, a few envo. pieces.. Good stuff!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/AK86/Merc-ak.jpg <--This one turned out really cool, really dynamic. A good thing I'd like to suggest, which is a mistake that I used to do when i first started on conceptart(till someone pointed it out), is that on your color pieces, you tend to get too close to black in certain areas, or use flat black to shade characters..As a word of advice, start using colors instead! Use dark blues or other values instead of black, keep pure blacks and pure whites out of color pieces. It tends to flatten out pieces and muddy up any color that might be present. This little bit of theory helped me improve my digital work quite drastically, I'm sure it will help you as well. Keep up the good work!

Hyver I really appreciate your comments and thanks for dropping by!

    Bloodrush working on it :p

Sirio_Brozzi Glad you like them. Ye I was already aware of this theroy, I just havnt really put it into practise well/too much. Lately I have really picked up on the importance of it and I wish to work on the area for future paintings.

    Cheers bub!

Keenir Hahahahha I never looked at it that way before! Glad you like it.

I havnt posted for over a month now. Luckily I have still been working and got work show.

I attempted to put it into some sort of perspective but failed and I also lost the original design/mood of the ship.

Second attempt. I did sketch this out by the way. I used a skew for reference to get all the porportions looking 'correctish'.

Huge update! I think im going to keep checkin in with you, I love to see people working hard.

No major crits came to mind, your doing interesting stuff. Maybe a bit more reflected light on your metals to help bring them out?? I like the last robot picture, something about the suggested grass field gives it a cool mood. Good thumbnails and pencil rendering

    woah baby! you've been busy!

remember to keep your darkest values for the last stage of your work (along with higlights).. use them to really punch those deep accents.. overkill will degrade all your hard work instantly

looking forward to the progress made!

hey lots of good looking stuff around here..especially your Robots and Environments. The 2 things i feel would greatly benefit your skills...would be improving your use of the Good ol Pencil...and Your Anatomy...you can achieve this by doing 1 thing, Life Class...its good to draw from pics...but nothing beats a proper life class...now obviously its not easy to just find a life class...but if you can it would be the GREATEST thing you can do at the moment.
