NNNNNNNNNNnnnnice!!!!, keep it up man!, you are really pushing yourself to get to your best, keep it up!!.

Well, enviorements is something i am weak at, but, i know that the time of the day changes the quality of the lightsource, and you used a weird lightsource wich i cant really describe, what time of the day is it?, the color of the sky corresponds correctly to the time of the day?, the color of the light is correctly placed on the scene?, what type of light is it, difused or direct? (difused or the other one, i am not sure of its name). Also try pushing your darkest values a little more to the dark side ( ), make the cast shadows more defined.
The mountains need a little more shadow and light too i think... but overall its a real nice picture, but i think you need to study how light behaves in such enviorements, it would make a huge difference i think.
K, good luck, keep pushing yourself, you are getting so better

    Speedy gonzales!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaareeeebaaa!!!! aaaareeeebaaa!!!!!

Christian thankx. like i said it was a challanging piece. I really struggled with that one.

I call this an expression of my mind whilst working at somerfeild.

No matter how firendly I am with the customers (blue sky), deep down I am still in a gnarly mood (twisted environment) because I hate my job!

roughly an hour for this peice.

You have some amazing futuristic enviros, have you thought about creating a whole universe for these places and maybe some characters to go with those. Awesome! Keep it up.

    Speedy gonzales!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaareeeebaaa!!!! aaaareeeebaaa!!!!!

The first two paintings are extremely quick paintings, probally my first official speed paintings.

    Both done without any refs

    Andy Kerr - Art

I really liked the direction of this one but I would of spent far much time the polishing the shapes and adding detail. I will probally go back to this one some time in the future to properly turn it into a finnished peice.

    Andy Kerr - Art

I spent a little longer on this one and I used some reference

Looking Good. Cast shadows are solid, they are objects blocking the light, so paint them as such. Values in the foreground object need checking.
    Nice progression Andrew.

    Hello,
    http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...dpaint2-ak.jpg

That one is awesome! I love how you did the trees!
    I noticed a similar technique here: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/AK86/bridgin.jpg
which is awesome! cause the trees are still, well, detailed enough to be known as trees, but they dont direct the attention away from the bridge. Awesome!

Envisor Thanks man. I am have been trying understand colour more lately.

Razorb Cheers buddy. I am getting there ever so slowly.

Bagder hmmmmm, I really notice the fact that I havnt defined the right hand side of the shadow to suit the tower in the foreground. I will edit that now! Plus I will refine the values!

Dished Thankx man! I simply use one of the rough textured brushes and set the flow to 15 and the opacity to 80. Then basically dab away as if i was using a brush. Start with the midtone - highlight - shadow.

Razorb Cheers pal! I am not the only fella who is improving. Your latest peice was SWEET!

I havnt done any serious painting in a little while now. I would blame it on the fact that I trying to become more confident with maya.

Right any way. Thiss is a hud design for my uni group project. It is totally inspired by the hud from republic commando. This wasnt to difficult to paint but the only challenge was to get the contrast right so the inside of the visor/helmut would look right any light.

There are many reasons why this probally would look far better as a 3d model but our programmers have a limited amount of skill. So I had to be resourceful.

Hey, you've got some really kickass environments/landscapes...wish I could do that. That last spaceship is awesome, good job using perspective. I would love to see some figures or character sketches on this second page.

Pyroclasm00 Thanks man! Characters will be coming soon! I promise lol!

Razorb Thanks alot buddy. As always thanks for the support!

    Tonights creation.

I have been designing a enviroment/snapshot for my group project.

I have really tried to capture a 'action mood' with this peice. I felt i could acheive this by exagerated vanishing points and directional metalic effects. I will be adding some aliens protuding out of the hole and ceiling and the silouette of my main character(page 1) and the bottom of the corriodor.

I will be finnishimg this tomorrow

Wow, awesome landscapes and buildings and environmentals. I like what you're doing with perspective
I also like the color choice in the last picture, too. It has a nice yet creepy feel to it!

hello, and I must say you are moving forward - so I'll just give some tips.

You seem to scribble a lot, especially in the environment, it creates texture, and texture is a part of the perspective. & so while you should scribble in the details, you should pick where to scribble and paint in mass (larger strokes) more to increase the sense of depth, and better lead the eyes. You also often fail to create a good colour perspective, as your hue shift towards feels too swift - the whole depth of the landscape should constantly shift away from contrast, and towards the atmospheric colour (blue on earth) - it shouldn't be in large steps.

Your pieces also goes mushy, and looses form - you really should watch those cast shadow edges and make them sharper, and don't be afraid you use marquee tools, like the lasso tool etc.

A tip for landscapes, always shift your colours once you have the initial sketch - for in nature not a leaf nor a stone have exactly the same colour (these are minor tweaks mind you)

Start using more advanced brushes in photshop & add textures early on in the process etc.
Still I like where you are going, so keep it up

    GL.

    Modelling

dan liimatta Thanks for dropping by and giving me some more than useful advice on how to push my paintings further. I will be taking your advice seriously!

This is my very first design that I have created in maya

This is a model of the gun I designed in post 107. As you will notice the model is very close to the original design!I very chuffed with the outcome of this model!

Nice green enviro, i'd bear in mind the scale of the man in the background, that'd make those very narrow tunnels. The piece is nice but i feel it's a bit too middling, I'd agree with dan and start adjusting your hues, maybe make the shadows a bit orange. It'll help to add depth. Also don't be afraid to take all your brush adjustments off and work hard for a few edges, really helps to define them. Maybe an orange glow on the creatures glowy bit... the scientific name obviously.
Nice model! Very true to the original concept!
    Keep improving!

Sorry its been so long since I visited. Wanted to stop by and see how youve been doing with your work. Great colors on the ship and weapon designs. That corridor piece with the aliens coming in through the blast hole is a really cool piece. Good portrayel of action in it as well. I aslo started a new SB, its in my sig if you want to stop by.
