It's been a busy and exciting year for me. I've been more productive as an artist than I think I've ever been and I believe a lot of it has to do with the constant inspiration and motivation from close friends and the online communities. I've decided to post a recap of work I've created or posted on my website during last the year. Thanks to everyone and anyone who has supported me or has graciously taken the time to respond to my work. Here's to another exciting year! + = !!! - J

Innocent X Master Study Video Tutorial
Ok, one last one...this is a video tutorial I put together to show my workflow in Photoshop creating a detail study of "Innocent X" by Diego Rodriguez de Silva Velázquez. It was done for Open Figure Drawing Workshop 018. The image took roughly two hours to make and has been condensed into this 12 minute video.

Hello, Mecha, hello Hate, hello Chimp. Nice work from all three of you . So many beautiful things in one thread, my eyes are running wild.
But here, those two pieces went right to my heart and produce some effect like when you're jumping from a bridge into water.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165972585 Those fish, really feel grateful to you, while looking at this image.
Light and motion is so vivid and truthful. I think it is more than searching for effects or looking at photo ref. It looks like memory... and has a sweet feeling of adoration of beautiful scene. Those round eyes of the fish and half transparent elusive bodies and their directed motion like freed arrow, beautiful... I especially like simplicity of your language...
The next one is this
Again, felt an admiration and spasm in my throat. wonderful feeling of speed and again apparently very personal feeling of joy present. Mountains of taste.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165972473 I like tapestry and again laconic language in this one.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165972458 I would like thins one, but edges left after eraser, well it is too simple decision for me. i wish you go for more truthful illusion and blend it a bit in the air...
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165972950 Legs are too short and thin comparing to torso and her head... IMO
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165973321 Those soft shadows are lovely, Really can lose my head looking at them. can't even say what medium it is. I think watercolor? with digital lines? My, my. where we will be in few years with imitation of traditional like this... Wow.
Legs are slightly too thin and too short though again, but beauty of values is irresistible.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165973979 Good image except the proportions, from waist down legs are too short...
All images from this post have those errors in my opinion. I think, the distance measurements and comparison of negative space should be done more carefully.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165974079 The boy looks great, I think he is quite proportional, but values make his legs look huge comparing to the rest.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1165974090 From torso up the body looks too big comparing to legs.
The main repeating mistake the legs or sometimes hands and arms look disproportionally big, in my opinion.
But you did make my heart happy with some of your paintings, thank you.
u r trully unique, i fell so inpired but i also feel really depressed right now, i think ill have to work for a lot of years to reach ur level or the one of many people in this site, im really an amateur....fuck! its so sad.
CrazyHarij: Thank you for that wonderful comment, Im humbled and it is seriously appreciated
Fellah: Dude! How you been?!?!? Thank you also for the kind words... hey, I was digging through my hardrive and found that sketch I colored for one of your images a while back..... thats was around the time Madster was handing out verbal assbeatings like they where going oput of style.... hahahaha good times! You seriously have some of the best character pencilwork bro. Absolutely beautiful stuff. If youre ever up for doing a colab thing again, let me know!
Chewy!: Thanks brotha! I still think you and I would be doing some serious damage if we lived in the same vicinity. I took a break from production for a while but Ive been cranking out some tracks lately I need to send you. My audio site is almost done. I'll shoot you a link once its up. - J
rabeat: Bro, I think we all feel like that at some point in time. I see work by other artists posted here everyday that makes me think "Holyshit, why do I even bother?"... but you cant let it get you down. Just do your thing bro. Everyone pays their dues and we all have to start somewhere. Practice, practice and practice some more. Practice till you vomit. Start participating in the workshops, the sketch groups, even life drawing classes if you can. Anything to get you excited and motivated to do your art. Stay positive and remember, the shit aint gonna draw itself so get on it! - J
you have got a lot of good stuff, I especially like the image of Basquiat
|"A samurai without a sword is a man without a soul."|
Fuck that!!!!! This shit right takes the fucking cake... I want this in wall paper size.... that dude with the wings... Some of that stuff is done digitally right?? I mean the artwork that came after the dood with the wings..
Mainloop- man i must be dyslexic.. cuz i thought you asked how many people are on lsd
nice paints and good drawings!
Life is a long lesson in humility.
Vigo!: Actually the guy with the wings and everything below it was done in traditional media. The winged guy was done with thinned oils on water color paper... I wouldnt recommend it if youre looking for longevity in an image but it does create a cool effect similar to marker on paper.Originally Posted by vigostar

i love this, herakles is the mayn
Amazing stuff, mate! That pelt merchant really takes the cake. Beautiful.
Have never seen your traditional work and it's great to see the design ideas from your early work. You're only getting better and better having started from an advanced point of skill, your progress ia gonna be fantastic. Love the swarming school of fish. Can feel the speed and life in that piece. Of course the Gerome master copy has a place in my heart. Your energy and enthusiasm is infectious, my friend. Thanks for your great and invaluable inspiration.
You drew alot this year. It's starting to show in your anatomy skills. Congrats on all of the success with Imagine. No doubt 2007 will be good for you.
phenomenal. the execution of light and form rendering is so spot on that without the sheer diversity of content and fantastical elements, i'd swear i was looking at paint overs.
truly, truly top notch work.
Fantastic work, congratulations , your work is one of the best seen around here.
jdeegz - Glad you like the image
Goog - Thank you! I'm actually very fond of the Gerome study simply because it took me longer to create than most of my work!
AztcFireFlower - As always, thank you very much If I were to only pick a handful of artists who have inspired me with their skills a genuine personality, you would be one of the people I would pick. Ever since you started posting your foundational work in Rebecca's forum I have been completely taken back and mesmerized by it. It really is at a level I am striving to get to.
Ig - Thank you brotha! I know you've been busy yourself and your work is also improving tremendously, especially your entry for the EON Challenge.
sourgasm, Monstrum, JorgeM - Thank you!
lots of support and kudos for a year well done! strong throughout!
