How did you paint this self-portrait, because you're both looking down and your holding your hands. When I do self portraits I feel I'm kind of limited in what I can do when it comes to poses.
I think there's lots of potential here, I like the form and the skin tone of your hands, except for the green on it, it looks out of place. Same goes for the colors on your glasses, maybe desaturate and refine it a bit more. Also at first sight I thought you just stopped painting ur hair at a certain point and just got lazy with it, but I can see now that it's a head scarf thingie, but it still looks very flat because there's no hint of any texture or shadow. And the white in the lower right corner is distracting.
It is simple. I took a photo using a delayed prgram on my camera and then used a grid drawn over the photo to get the paintings in proportion. As far as the skin tone, you are right, the green was a little far fetched.
