    Craig Mullins Gnomon Demo

Demo! Craig Mullins kept changing his mind during the process, so it ended up being 3 thumbnails and one rough. See for yourself!

Thanks for posting these Shelly. I really liked seeing how he took his time to find an image that sparked his interest.. rather than just jumping in and painting a tank like people originally wanted. Showed how important those initial stages are.

Felicia: this was from the Gnomon workshop this past weekend.

So you were one of those people that were taking pictures! I think there was great value in the viewpoints that he shared in addition to what he was doing in photoshop, maybe even far surpassing the value of the demo. Unfortunately I doubt anyone has a recording of his talk...

thanks a lot for posting these ! As Mike Yamada said it must be a great thing to hear thoughts from Mr.Mullins as he paints. On Sijun if you search a little bit you can find very interesting conversations about art between the old members. I'm eager to watch his DVD.

I've also heard rumors of a book to go along with those dvds. 2007 looks to be an exciting year.

Hi Shellywan! Was great meeting you over there. Yep the demo was mostly about what he said more than what he painted. Same here as MikeYamada says: I'd love to have a voice recording of the demo, invaluable infos.

ye it was nice to meet you shelly ! the workshop was great too.

Interresting demo by mullins , i learned (even if i already know it, but we always hope) that there is no magic wand or no "mullins filter" , we just need to draw , observe and think a lot.
He s very humble , and dont want to be venerate like a god

At work we often joke about the magic mullins brush or make-instant-art filter, glad it doesn't exist . I'd kill for the notes of his demo though, if anyone took some.

Thanks, Shelley! I was really curious about this event. I would have gone, had I heard about it sooner. (I need to keep better track of what's going on over there.) I've only had a chance to work with Craig once (although is was for a three book series) but he was great to work with.

Thx for the post, i was present during the show, captivated. Craig think like a real painter and not like a "photoshop man". He adviced a lot about the traps of digital techniques, that is important to have an IP, to think that we make before starting too quickly, to feel all that we make. He gave us a great lesson of painting and opened the door for being better. Thanks Craig

Truth ... Many of the extraordinary guys don't post anymore, many have a very low frequency and those who become good post very little too. A pity, I wanted to understand why. Perhaps the novelty passed? Hehe...
