Chromosome...I love your stuff. I like the plain changes but I like how sharp it is. Hard angles, dark lines, etc. Did you go to school in San Fran also?? I applied to CCA.

I have to say this is one of my favorite threads I've seen on Conceptart. Your hatching technique is really beautiful. Really great stuff!

the use of such inorganic lines to produce such dynamic values is incredibly inspiring. I'd love to see more of your original concepts like the ninja turtle, you're style holds it's own very well.

loooove your stuff.. I like how you keep it all very angular, but still get such flow and life to your drawings.. Also, I'm curious, how did you end up developing that unique hatching style ?

    It's been a minute

Wow. Itís been a minute since Iíve been online. So many threads to go and look at. Iíve been going to summer school and working two jobs (neither of which have anything to do with art), so itís pretty busy at the moment. Sorry for the late replies, for real. Iíll scan some paintings a little later, I forgot to bring them to work today, but hereís some sb junk.

Call0ps: Thanks! Yeah, I have this thing about cephalopods, and I think growing up in Hawaii only made it worse

AmadorL: No prob. I havenít been drawing from flickr lately (no internet at the moment), but when I do, Iíll post it.

Tensai: Thanks. Iím a big fan of lost and found, and try to throw it in wherever I can. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnít.

Gunnarsson: Thank you! That ribcage took me forever and Iím pretty happy with the way it came out. Thanks for the kind words.

JessicaNoel: Thanks for the compliments. Iím going to the Art Academy University and I got about a year and a half left. Iíve been lucky enough to have really great instructors. Best of luck with your application!

    Shobunkin: Thanks Shobunkin!

Archkyle: Thanks! Iíll try to throw more original stuff in, itís just that I here so many people who get out of school say that they really miss having the opportunity to draw the live model. More to come though. Thanks again.

Maxetormer: Youíre welcome, and thanks for the compliment.

Nethus: Thanks. I think I was just doodeling one day, and it just started popping up more and more, and I dug the way it looked. If you want to see some crazy hatching, I know Iíve mentioned his name before, but Sergio Toppi is unbelievable. Iíve only seen a few pages of his work, but from what I saw, it was amazing. I guess they were selling his book at wondercon in SF this past year.

Crazydude: Thanks! I guess the favorite would have to be monkey/skull/squid things, with their heads on fire of course

I'm so floored every time I look over your stuff. The way you manage to... I don't know, almost... "grid" the figure leaves me feeling so inspired, and thoughtful! Please keep posting, and thanks for sharing!

really great stuff. your paintings are great, and i relate to the life drawings a lot--kinda how i wind up approaching some of those things too. i use ballpoint--are you using pencil when you do the drawings?

PiercedLogic: Thanks! Iím glad you dig the drawings.

Vcoleman: Thank you. Iíll do my best.

    Soja: Thank you! Cool gif!

Cubesoflard: Thanks for stopping by and Iím glad you dig it.

    DanielC: Thanks man!

ICH: Thank you, and Iím glad some people find this stuff inspirational. Thatís such a compliment.

    Antti: Thanks!

Sway West: Thank you! Itís funny how you like the ďgridĒ work, and I like your gestural work.

Ccsears: Thanks for the compliment. I only use ballpoint pen. It forces me to be more decisive with my lines, and to learn how to make my mistakes work for me. The pen is a little skillcraft ballpoint pen, about 89 cents. Sometimes Iíll play with micron or HiTec- C pens, but I just like the ballpoint feel better.

Well, hereís some paintings from my head painting class this summer. It seems like the more colors that are introduced the crappier my paintings get. Eh. These are all limited palette (using white, yellow ocher, terra rosa, burnt umber, and some naples yellow and transparent oxide red). Itís a different teacher than my figure painting class, so itís a different approach, and Iím using filbert brushes instead of square brushes. I figure if you keep doing the same thing, you keep getting the same result. Weíll see how it goes. Most of these paintings are done in bout 4 hours or so. I included a wip for anyone that cares (I borrowed a friends camera and figured ďwhy not?Ē) Thanks for checking it out.

Beautiful heads man, i love the accents in the first one. Do you always start monochromatic, then dark to light? Do you have your skin tones previously mixed in your pallet or you mix them on the process?
Anyways, love your book man. Thank you for sharing your works.

very cool portraits. definitely not easy to do. it always seems like the more you limit your palette the easier it is to think. almost as bad as learning to draw all over again sometimes. but i think you're kicking ass at it anyway.

Really diggin your style on your figures and especially your creature/characters. And i must say, your charcoal drawings are quite impressive. i never really like using charcoal much in school, always so messy.
