    Art scholarship & resources thread

Here's an online newsletter called Art Deadlines List that looks useful:

From the site: "A monthly newsletter (via email or paper) with several hundred announcements (every month!) listing art contests & competitions, art scholarships & grants, juried exhibitions, art jobs & internships, call for entries/proposals/papers, writing & photo contests, residencies, design & architecture competitions, auditions, casting calls, fellowships, festivals, funding, and other opportunities (including some that take place on the web) for artists, art educators and art students of all ages."

The newsletter has both a free and a paid version (I guess the paid version has more listings).

Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition

The info up on the page right now is from 2006, but I'm guessing the deadlines will be similar next year.

    Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships

"Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships allow young people from minority and economically disadvantaged backgrounds not only to realize their artistic dreams, but also to give back to their communities."

Applications and instructions for 2007/2008 are up now.

Also, from the FAQs: From students page:
    "Does AIGA offer any scholarships?
Some AIGA chapters offer scholarships, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Minnesota, New Orleans, San Francisco and Upstate New York. We suggest that you work with your school's Financial Aid office. The Foundation Center is also an excellent resource for this kind of information."

Scholarships are offered to Canadian students at Max the Mutt Animation School in Toronto. There is a three year scholarship for the animation diploma program, and there are one year scholarships for the illustration program. More to come. The scholarship fund is growing. check the web site, www.maxthemutt.com.

Vboyz, I'm not sure which application you are refering to.
Each scholarships has its own requirements.
I suggest going to the website of the scholarship you are interested in to learn more about it.

I hope I answered your question,
    emily
