    Looking for anatomy statue thread...

Awhile ago there's was this post on these really cool anatomy statues. I can't seem to locate it though, anybody remember it, or know where it is? Thanks.

hey dougbot! I just bought the statue awhile back myself. I love it, it has really help put a lot of things in better perspective for me. Especially the hip. The very basic one was the best deal for me, still don't see any need for the more expensive ones. I've been drawing from this little guy and referring back to my loomis book and ... again... helps put some things in better perspective.

completely agree with you Bowlin, I don't see the point in buying the more expensive ones. So I can spend 100 bucks more for the red one and to have the ability to remove the penis and the head???? I'm not kidding about the penis either, its true... Don't know who came up with that idea. I would suggest to anyone interested in buying one to just buy version 1.

You really don't know why, Darktwin? Most people wouldn't want little kids coming into their studio and seeing something like that.

Please don't say most people, although you do make a valid point in regards to nudity. But when the subject is art, I believe the context of the matter is different. Only in America do we have a problem with nudity in art it seems. The rest of the world seems to be doing fine with seeing the penis and brest in "pertty paintings and thangs." Don't get me started. Although I'm American I grew up in Europe, I'd like to think I came out ok.

Your comment cracks me up, "seeing something like that." You make it sound like the Penis is going to do Kung Fu on those poor little kids eyes. Or the penis is going to melt the poe little chillins eyes out. So I say to you drd...

    the horror.........the horror

    back to the drawing board.

I used to work at the same place as Andrew(the guy that made these) and pretty much everyone at the office had one of these sculpts. On a personal level, the most expensive one is amazing both as an instructional reference and as a piece of art. If I remember right, he spent some time studying and measuring cadavers as part of the process creating these guys. They are a classic reference along with the asaro planes head.
