Youre getting better and better at figures. Your characters are awesome. WOuld like to see a monster that you took at least 2- 3 hours on. My favorite so far is your latest post, and if im right, its also your Avatar at the moment. Would like to see that version. Great work man, keep posting.

kids, let it be a lesson: if you want a proper thumbnail to show in front of your sketchbook, always attach it first-or make the whole first post only for your thumbnail,so you can change it anytime.
oh,and never stay up beyond 2 am, because inspiration will be sure to hit you right then and you'll be forced to stay up all night. just because of some random words you hear in a song.
k,i swear this is the last one for today. it's gotta be.

Your drawings/lines are getting better and better. But your hard fast messy hatching ruins most of them.
I'd like you to either spend more time (and I mean much more time) rendering, or don't render at all and let the line art shine through.

Those two recent drawings of the girl in the long dress are great, and a perfect example of what I just said. The lines are nice and they aren't ruined by lazy quick hatching.

Keep at it. You ever tried using pens for your quicker stuff?

i think the only time i really tried pens was in school when i was extremely bored, but i guess i'll have to retry. yeah,i know i get really, really impatient with my shading most of the time. i'ma work on it,thanks

wow dude, some definite improvement since the last time I checked in! I have to agree with the previous crits though - either take more time rendering or leave it out, 'cause it seriously distracts from your form - which is improving by leaps and bounds!

Cheers dude - thanks for stopping by the 'ol Zoo.

Hey Carni! You got some great concepts running through that brain of yours, though I think you really need to slow down and relax with the shading. If you get inpatient why not try a pencil that can cover large areas quicker? this way your not rendering each teeny weeny intricate line.
It pays off to be patient though

    keep em coming dude!

sorry,i tried, but it doesn't work any better than the hard fast impatient one.
i'll just have to train my patience and take more breaks inbetween.

doodling on an older sketch that was beyond rescue. *sic*

I agree. Your form IS getting better, but rendering takes a lot of time. Perhaps if you just concentrate on very bright/dramatic lighting like in comics? Just keep it up man, your definitely getting better.

thanks bowlin,i'll have to try that.

thought about entering both cow (75 tons) and chow (bard of the apocalypse) with this one,but decided against it
tried to draw as much as possible with a single line in this one, which naturally resulted in fuckup.
and a non-successful warmup sketch for today.

Yay preggos! lol. That art goddes one at the top is pretty cool. I like the last one also, but it needs to be more refined in areas (mainly "outline")....

I like the sketches, would like to see more studies in this new sketchbook though...

    KEEP AT IT!

try to draw through the form with those line drawings. don't just do outlines, I think that will help you a bit. Also, no matter how many times you go over a line, it won't make it any more correct. Pushing down harder on the pencil also won't make the line any more correct. Don't be afraid to use your eraser, they were invented for a reason.

I think that if you take the time to do some slower drawings you'll learn a lot more than just rushing through and sketching things out. Try to make a good finished graphite drawing, and I think you'll learn some things about hatching as well as lineweight and tone. Once you figure out how that all works, you'll be able to speed up the process. But doing many things fast probably won't teach you as much.

keep drawing and posting, dont be fussy, draw on and with anything.

yeha what he said, everythign in color Has that PS soft brush look.

your ideas are great in all your sketches. I would like to see them cleaned up and crispy rather than sketchy.. I have the same problem I totally understand.. the lines are getting cleaner though

    Always think about:
    lighting! design! perspective! proportion!
    And (self)motivation is still everything.

I would have like to see some hue shifts to blue here and there,
specially on the dark areas, but dam!! your modeling its getting better
try pushing your contrast like that one a in all your other pieces,
and remeber to use both hard and soft brushes, other than that just
keep going your getting better bro, all the hard work its pay off!
