Love the weird color studies and the hand gestures. I think you overdo the hatching a little sometimes on the digis and it adds too much noise, but thats probably just preference. Keep up the good work

    Hi Dan,

Nice to see so many improvements from u again. Seems like u r into another level again!..

I am curious bout the technique "Inverted" u did on post#177 bout Zorn 2.
What is the purpose to paint in dark blue. Then inverted it to become brightness?

Is dat value study?! It seems like a converted-value study..

Great art all the way..! Love the BLack Nude lady in page 3! Indeed realistic...

You mentioned moving, are you still in the E-tuna area or have you left town so to speak?

    Where the hell are you?

You have a very nice SB going here. You know that already though. I started a bunch of new anatomy studies in my sketchbook after you made me realize that some of my anatomy in my sketches is F**k up. Nice SB!

sorry - and yes I've been out of an internet, functional anyway for weeks now, the main reason is probably that I liked it ~ I'll just update you with the last 3 days worth of work or so, besides the pure training sketches etc. (since they are not here, but where I actually live)

If I have the time (take the time anyway) - I might upload some of the stuff produced besides

I'll drop some lines tomorrow, or perhaps the day after that.

as for anatomical abnormalties etc, my defence is that I've not used a ref, since it's been part of the exercise (and I know a heap of bones and muscular names now to boot!)

i like the thumbnailing process, alot. last one's esp. ace,but if his boot was turned around the other way it would look much more grounded and solid.
nice job on the anatomy works, although yes, there are some severe wtfs

thanks! well I'm back as promised, but I'm afraid I need to keep it short and quick

Anyway today's addition is a rework of C, one of the 28 soldiers I'm working on for fun - I'll probably rework the A, B, D and E as well ~ consider them all WIP, as I'm not really happy with this one either.

again i have to wonder why you place the feet like that, because everything else i pretty solid. jacket could be done with some harder brushes to indicate rough material. (on second look, his legs might be just a tad too long)

Just a quick dump, as I'll try to visit some threads today

Carnifex well, um, well I more or less made her as a training exercise - I wasn't really sure on how I was going to progress with my ABC's - so I simply took one of them and rendered it out, it's sloppy.

Still she wasn't to stand firm on the ground, not that the legs are well made etc - so she still failed

oh I didn't make thumbs for her either!

Bendragon rawr, hopefully I'm back to stay, hopefully I'll come by soon and visit everyone in the group as well

    Axion
    Thanks for the tip

    bhanu
Time to play even more with liquefy then during the thumbnail process
    & thanks Bhanu.

    TheGnoll
hopefully it will improve more soon enough, feeling the wall of frustration daily now, but the results are getting better and better at the same time - and still I loath them when they are done (not to mention the old stuff I liked back then that's even worse!) rawr, and I'll drop by (when I have time)
    & Thanks everyone!

    Jorge Gecov
    thanks!

    AK86
thanks! oh and don't like those colours - they are crude

Anyway I've included a new character, the crude 28 concept, last nights revised version anyway - and then the current WIP (the one shoe is almost done!).

awesome stuff otherwise but everything looks as if you're afraid to push your value ranges. bounce lights, shapes and textures, everything's there, but there is no darkest dark or lightest light highlights anywhere

DAMN those last two are really nice! love the designs, although the brain dude could have fatter arms (i thought part of his belly was part of his right arm first, which made it look better)

Wow, nice SB you got going on. Really digging on the concept work - lotz of potential, but I agree with kinnas - push up the contrast and your work will rule. Keep posting and I'll keep checking it out. Take care

hi man, thanks for stopping by.About the recent experiments, i personally don't like the legs of some of these guys.
About the design, try and not over-do it with shapes and random hi tech things, keep it simple.Good recognizable elements are the ones big enought to be seen in the silhoette of the character imho.Just my two cents, i no big expert anyway

    keep sharing!

    ciao

AHHH you're back. awesome! these last black and white tonal ones are awesome. The rendering of the brain guy is great, and that is a sweet as hell concept. his axe blade looks so realistic, but in a nice painterly way. It's great that you're not exaggerating the difference in value between darks and lights, the changes can be subtle but when seen as a whole you can read them as lights and darks. HOWEVER I think you could benefit from very sparsely adding very very darks and very very lights in the areas that might have them. for example on his legs directly beneath the belly there might be a small strip of darkness. or there might be strips of bright light on the metal bits around his waist. another good spot to put some really dark darks would be on HIS left arm. right now its hard to read because its all a very similar value. his bicep area would only really be getting reflected light, so it should be darker than the forearm area... i've found that when studying from nature in most lighting situations there are usually a few areas that have the lightest lights and the darkest darks (right now it only seems 1 area- his brain- is recieving the lightest light).

you know i could be wrong about all of this, though. im such a noob :: bows down ::
