Damn nice! A little lacking in contrast perhaps, maybe giving the sky a slight difference in color or such would be a good idea? :]

Yeah, I've found that some of my earlier pieces are just as good meta and design wise, but the character of the piece is just usually a lot weaker ~ probably my favourite part about the last couple of weeks. Thanks!

Thanks, and a good day at the moment is spent mostly doodling/drawing, why my last updates have been slim in comparison to the old is due to lack of time.

Jove Thanks, yes I agree - I'm not really happy with the colours it got in the end, nor the cranes etc - & I really should fix it
still I like parts & thanks

So I'll make my rounds of SBs tomorrow

Anyway while fixing/updating my portfolio, for the first time in months, writing job applications, still looking for an apartment and some other bull - I'm fairly happy that I managed to cram in

oh, ive figured it out: this 'dan liimatta' is really a collective of seven or eight artistic geniuses posting under one name. quite logical if you think about it
either that or he has mastered the control of time as we know it.
but, these are looking quite nice!!
    DSG is spectacular!!!
my only crit would be that i perhaps want to see a little bit more of the other side of that old womans face in the window? mabye just a personal thingy.
    cheers!

wow man really great update, i love every single one of your dsg's

just one liiiiiittle crit, maybe make the hag's nose more red cuz of the weather or something as her skin colour blends in to the background too much and might need that extra 'oomph' to make it pop out and grab attention

    keep working hard

I hate trying to find things to crit about here.
OK, the space travellers DSG could perhaps do with more depth. The sky could be more further away and the little men could fade more as they go into the distance.
Thats it for today. Jolly good show sir!

man your color comps blow my freakin mind! I really like the speedpainting you were doing on the first page, havent gotten to the second one yet, but its great to see that you can observe your own flaws and work on them - eg working on the torso after realizing its not your strongest point. also the figure sketches, really looks like you went crazy trying to learn poses.
Im quite impressed with this sketchbook.
Since you have repeatedly asked for it, one critique i have to give to you, in my humble opinion, is that i have noticed on some of your characters you could pay a little more attention to cleaning up your edges. It might just be that the time wasnt spent due to them being speed paintings, but if you are going to beautifully render out a character, clean up those edges too! In some of the cases, rough edges and grime do add to the composition a bit, and in your February 11th, 2007, 03:26 PM post, you improved dramatically in your figure paintings.

Keep it up man, this type of stuff gets me juiced to do more of my own artwork.

You defy the phrase "one sketch a day." No, this is beyond physical, mental, spiritual. The liimata - daily ritualistic individual. I apologize for my absence as of late. The meaning of life is a time consuming thing. The top left of the space traveller's DSG is a turquiose scene from "Lord of the Flies" all in itself. All within.

    Keep doing you

little time so I'll keep this short - Thanks guys!

    Selected comments.
Camara - yes, once it's stable I'm going to go with it for several reasons (they fixed curves, less crashes with the beta opposed to CS2 concerning brushes, linear height setting for dual brushes, the new and improved Wand, the new and improved cloning tool).

Vulgar` - given that I was away for November to February and did jack shit, I think you are excused

    BumsUnite
One of my major traits is that I'm a critic, of my own work, and others - it sometimes gets you down but as long as I can stay on top it does help

Bendragon probably yes, I would probably have cleaned up the plant before, but right after that, those two points.

    paperX
Probably yes, I'll have it in mind when I finish her later, as well as grumbles wise advice.

    Carnifex
fail and learn, I'm actually happy, to an extent anyway, when I've failed for I've at least tried something new, or something I'm bad at, and hopefully learnt something from it. Though I hate running into the same old flaw time and time again.

    mrgrumble
My cat gives me helpful advice, usually onliners like "that sucks" or the classic "gör om, gör rätt" and if any swede have a catchy English translation of the later I'd like to hear it for future use; anyway the grumpy old furball is whipping me to work harder or she bites my hand

& I will probably fix that face later, so yeah, spot on timmy

    anyway thanks!

Nice stuff man, love the plant eating the space travelers, great mood. The perspective on the hag leaning out the window looks a little skewed to me, might be the shadow on her face beeing a little of from the shadow on her body. Nice design on the craft, I would have liked some more indicators to the depth in the image though, looks a little flat right now, especially the middle area infront of the ship. Anyhow, enought nitpicking, great stuff

I agree with what you said more or less, I'll fix the hags face, but probably not the window/perspective issue, that is there with or without the shadowy half.

    hehe very good work.
How did you do the windows for the building in the last one ? Did you paint the wall colour above the colours of the windows ? .. the contours are pretty straight.
