    Two Self Portraits

Hello everyone. I've been experimenting with new ways of laying down texture lately, and thought I'd get some feedback.

LOL dude, don't cut yourself with knives.

pain will not release the inner pain ore torture you are going through!

and i really hope you don't cut yourself, because your drawings look great.
i hope it's just a vision on yourself that you are showing in your art, if that's true, you made it very believable!
    and well done.

wtf?? dont make assumptions about someone you dont know, for all you know those scars could have been from a car wreck.
and on top of that, judging from his facial piercings, he's into body modification. so even if those scars were self inflicted, they wern't done because he was depressed, only 14 yr old girls with extremely low self esteem do that shit. body modification is a whole different world that you aparently dont understand.
to many, its just another form of art.
so dont insult him with your assumptions.

    anyway,
i think these pieces are fucking awesome. are you using PS or painter?

It's all photoshop. Every once in a while I decide to give painter another shot, but it never seem to work out.

i think you didn't understood the meaning of my post, and yeah i do understand that world a bit. and no, not only 14 yr old girls with extremely low self esteem do that shit. a friend of mine does it to, he isn't proud of it also.

but i didn't insult him with my assumptions, it's was more meant as a joke.
not a good one, i understand now (because not all people understand it), but it wasn't serious, you saw LOL?

and you are speaking for him, you are saying he would never do that shit. but you also don't know that guy.
believe me, i know enough of that world. and i have seen enough of it.
and yes to some is it just another form of art.

it wasn't my intension to hurt him, ore make a practical joke of him.
just a little joke, with my worry's 'if' he would do such stuff. i could say something to him, he could think about.

    nothing more and nothing less.

end of discussion, it's an art forum. you will agree with me about the art part . but let it be, because he made 2 wonderfull paintings like i said before.

    and that's what matters here!

What particular brushes are you using or adjusting? And I assume it's in Painter?

yknow, as your roomate i never noticed the scars...or the vertical woodgrain in your flesh. Anyways, I think you're doing a great job manipulating the brushes. My guess is you're making the strokes have a different spacing and scattering, and it seems as if you have tamed the beast. I know i was trying to get some sort of contrasty scale texture fer my merman, but it didn't work out...(indulge me in your secrets sometime buddy). I like how you manage to create the look of a foggy mirror environment, but part of me wants some edges to be defined and a bit more clean lined, perhaps to show a little weight to the figure (I'm thinking around the torso/arm space in the body portrait) And hey! no burnt umber backdrop-me gusta! It really helps the figure pop itself out more. See yas in a few days old chap, and happy giblet gravy day.

Hmmm. more RISD people....something is going on. Seriously, it's awesome you guys are posting here and the work is great. This has to be the most inspirational places, online or whatever I've ever been to, so welcome. I assume you know my boy mrgrumble who's been ripping shit up lately. Oh and don't think the Shanth quote hasn't slipped by me there Grumble, heh.

Nice painting. I do not know much about PS and textures so I am of no help. But, if you run across any tips, feel free to post. Keep up the good work.
