dude nice stuff, i can see an improvement in some areas where you have considered the direction and added shading accordingly, keep it up.

one thing tho, for the last pic of the boxer, i reckon the image could be much more powerful if you adjusted the camera angle and the winner's body posture. or even adjust ur current pic to have the loser still hurling through the air. it can add dynamic to your piece instantly.

say maybe have the winner' punch coming towards us and just have some hair to indicate the falling motion of the loser. or a close up of the fist connecting with the face

being said all that, it still depends on what you were trying to achieve with the piece, if it was supposed to convey "after" the battle, then maybe have the winner facing towards us and behind him lays the loser as u have drawn. just some suggestions

lastly, watch out for those pesky perspective man, its hard to calculate from your angle but at least have the ring area flat

    Hello Asoir.
I'm diggin' this book, I like the contour linework, and your drawings have a lot of energy to them - this one is one of my faves: http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1172617360

I suggest you hunker down for a few hours (maybe like 2... or something. I myself have trouble sitting still for long periods of time) with a mirror and spend some time on a self portrait or a series of self portraits in graphite or something, paying close attention to lighting&shadows and form. Your confidence in human facial anatomy could use some tweaking

That is all! Keep updatin' yo.

As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.

    Hello asoir
I watched your sketches and i like many of them. They are full of energy and emotion, very unique. Now i want to go totally wild with a pencil, lol
I won't repeat what all the others said about more and longer studies of planes and anatomic features, you kow that already. Oops, now i repeated it. Don't loose your looseness and keep posting, you are doing good and improving all the time.

nice update! pity ya about the loss of work through saving...happens to be best of us

for the digi piece you might want to work on those colours, especially in the skin tones, looking a bit dull at the moment, might just be cuz of the loss of work tho...keep updating anyways

hey all, poor excuse of an update, but now that i feel like typing up all the replies, i'll post. i'm honestly going to do that "hunker down" and do something thing. thing is, i dont have a mirror in a comfortable place, so ill try and do a study of an item or reference of a face instead.

until then, eat some of this lame stuff!

    replies!
    my favorite part

paperx- you still havent dropped your name, pal i appreciate the crits my friend, i need to get my crit hat on and pop by yours too... and i just want to say, if i dont change things after receiving crits, it doesn't mean im not listening to them, i take them super seriously and try to incorporate it in my next piece, i just dont like turning back too often
alex- tubgirl. or tubgrill, the revolutionary new cooker by the makers of goatse cheese and lemon party lemons
bunny- thanks a buncho! as said previously, i'ma hunker awn down!
    yeah, "will"...sorry for this update!
liam's- wow, thanks, your sketch has been my b/g for a while my man
sonaj- haha, thank you! i'm gonna look for some planar face pictures on the web, unless its cheap to buy a head model...ill need to google up! thanks.
asoir- shut up you moany twat!
paperx 2222- thanks, i calmed down after i had no more hair to rip out i've undulled it a bit and made some changes
    michael- aww shucks, thanks!

no sketches, except for a long post-it thumbnail page thingybob
new digi sketch...might finish. i still think davi's colour demo's still having good effects on my digital pieces, thanks again! and yes, i need to get back to the wack, this conformity recently's doing me bloomin' ead in!

...but im still doing those studies

    phew, peace!

The digis are good. I'd blend a bit more the brush work to make the planes pop out a bit more though.
    Keep pushing !

    this one is quite interesting

this one as paperX mentioned needs some complimentary colors. Also, the sword looks like it is stuck in his back though that may be the effect you are going for.

hmmm, tubgrill, sounds like a radical idea, reminds me of the the ps3 grill

fix the edges up on this http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1172947015 and it will look good

I looove some of your pencils, and brushpen stuff, but the digis dont cut the cake for me.
if your going for the sinple bold colour look, have a look at gezstars ten ton baby work in the ff thread( its old, and in best of ca)

line work+ bold colours would suit you
    keep at it cock meister

dan- yes, we should! twould be fun
destiny- haha, that muuuustve been sarcasm
paperx- you suck! blalblablalb i hate you!
well, seeing as you didnt seem to read my "drop me a name" things, you wont see this message
    peace dude
lee- hey man, thanks. i was thinking about adding complimentary colours, but i was trying to get it to look super egyptian style, but since i didnt work in it anymore i guess it woulda been hard the sword was going to have a sheath but i left the piece, heh...i should start working back into stuff more often, or keep at one piece for a long time. thanks for the crits.
alex-hmm, not a bad idea, i must try that out. and that grill is truly a travesty peace knobjock!

ill explain the last sketch thing, it's a parody of the colouring in books, (bear with me) and shows the degradation of youths today...not all of my stuff is scrawl mania yknow
and the mask with the goggles is a life study, (i put on the goggles btw, ) 30mns ishh

omg asoir u bastard!!! Here i'm trying to find some artist for you to study from to help u with your perspective and you're dissing me in your replies!!!

THATS IT!!! im setting my Pirateninja army on u!!!

lol anyways, the name's Allan Xia, i dont use it much cuz allan is such a lame name trying to become get a doctor's degree so ppl can call me Professor X

now regarding the update, the realistic facial studies are just want i wanted to see from u man, definitely keep them up! i can see an improvement already in the faces

just one little picky thing, u're applying line weight which is awesome but watch out where u apply the deep and dark lines, eg: the face on the lower left corner of your second pic, it seems to me that the shadows are on the right, but the deep dark lines are on the left which makes it sorta confusing

keep up the great stuff!!! and i DO read your replies so dont think u can get away with that again

PS: be clear about the name thing in the future lol...i had to go back and do a little "research" before i read what u told bluefruitbowl before to understand correctly what u meant

Love the latest stuff! Its a treat see you develope. You keep getting better by the week, and refine your style as you go. Really, one can see great progress in these pages. Continue on this track and you will be legend.
Really like the colored b'nessman, I have no idea how you make those crazy colors work, but you do! Find the "shit i'm to late" piece really interesting, it got some good potential. I say keep experimenting on it, I like the way its headin though it lacks something... I cant point my finger on it. Experiment a bit on it and I reckon you have a big chanse of finding 'it'.
Keep it up sir, become king!

--oh yeah, gave ya some happy stars.--

Father Christmas will mess you up.
