I turn my head for a second and you come out with all kinds of shits and giggles.
I quite like this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1173287278 the pen and clean lines and all. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think your head studies have really helped improve your distortions and crazy asoir stuff. :] I look forward to those paintings!

I think you trying to make me look lazy with all these new stuff . I notice you said you got a couple of canvases, it would be interesting to see your raw expressive style in oil.

i got so pissed off after realising i never draw the full figure on the last sketch (i always position the head wayyy too low!) that i drew the legs on top

allan- hehe, i know, bad habit..thanks
mia- thanks, i should do s'more...all this laziness lately gave me a shove up the ass
lee- haha, thanks, im trying to do something expressive for the oil piece, in my thumbnails they were all so rigid and stuff, so i want to see if i can break loose in paint...

i did some colours for that old sketch to see whether it could work as an oil paint, your opinions on it as an oil would rule.
unfortunately i did the painting at THAT size exactly, so i cant show you a bigger one

alex- loololo thanks dude, that guy is a-mazing. i remember that thread of his oils and they are EDIBLE.

sofa- haha, crazy reply dude, i am from england and i am doing gcse's..maths test on tues..ARGH! mines in july.

crappy selfportraits, with the reference. first one i look an absolute cock, but ive been working it for ages so im leaving it i took the picture at 9am, gimme a break! finished it a few minutes ago..
the graphic one took like a minute and i still prefer it.
my lips were a big pain too, they're pretty chunky so it caused some problems.

GAH i still hate the expression in the first one..ah well

hey man i really like the new selfportraits, your face in the photo seems a bit longer tho, so watch out for your proportions.

i also have some crits for when u are rendering (mind u i suck pretty bad in this area).

when you are painting skin tones it doesn't always have to be what u think the colour is (eg brownish tones as u have) dont be afraid to use some artistic license with colour sometimes

also you need to pay attention to what how the light+shadow/form of the face actually look like.

for example the areas under the eyelid, corner of the mouth, under the chin all should be very dark in shadow.
plus, your face seems to be lit from the right side while ur neck seems to be lit from the left.

One way to get rid of these issues would be to study the planes of the face, it should give a better idea of how light and shadows affect the forms of the face

anyways enough of me try to sound smart....u keep updating u hear?

LOL, i did my first maths module on thursday, found it quite easy,...the feeling of complete stupidness having revised all the stuff in book and then none of it comes up....gah, i got science modules tomorrow, but science is ok i seem to be naturaly good at science, inever do any revision or listen in class and still get A's and A*s and im like ..woah.shit i did good ..woopwoop...annoying not the same with maths tho

self portrait- like the person above says, your face in pic is a bit longer than the one you have painted, you drew your face kinda chubby squarish and short also the paint work is a bit too solid i think, you could hae used a much lower opacity and still had a better effect, but then again bold lines is quite your style looking at everything else youve done, so hey whatever you happiest with realy is how it goes.

yo m, i see you hittin the bridgman again; the studies look nice. when you're doin them, slow down a little and take time to think about what you're drawing. remember what you studied when you do your personal pieces or just sketches. you had a study on the head planes a couple posts up; do you really understand what you're studying when you study it? your proportions are getting better, now just remember the other parts too. think about the lighting when you decide to render something, cause rendering is really just figuring out where the light and shadow go.
that digi painting as an oil would look good, i think. though you might need some shadow under the chin. whatever. g'luck man, and keep drawin. peace, m.

dude, took a look at your sketchbook. here's some thoughts, don't get me wrong, i don't mean to harm. first impression i got, you seem to be pretty unhappy with the way your stuff turns out. you're getting pissed, fueling the hate on your very own stuff. don't let that happen, man! i had such moments often enough, as well! in my opinion they just make things worse, so relax! chill. they are just single images, they are neither you, nor your improvement! you do improve, and you should look at that, to get some more ease!
also, looking at your lines and all i assume you are quite impatient with your drawings. why? no need to rush. how about taking more time, you don't have to do 20 a day. just kick it back, you should relax while doing what you like, not freak out and get in a hassle... lean back, examine what is wrong, do something about it, or kick it, start a new one. you dont have to force yourself into getting good, it all happens by itself, just have to let it happen!

i mean, my crit might be totally off and all. people are different, some swear and curse the whole time while painting and are magnificient painter. me, i need total inner calm, the calmer or happier the better... the more relaxed, the better. don't let the hate get you, just move on! =)

    best, alex

Lol! sure I do ^^ You update a lot man, its hard to keep track^^ you see, you did it again! Nice update man I find it hard to critique your stuff since I know you don't aim for realism and stuff, and thats pretty much the reason for me having problems giving you proper critique or comments. *Dont take this word by word* But its like tryin' to leave critique to an anime artist, only anime artist are easier since I can compare it with something.. Your style is very very unique. And I do really find it hard to give your crits.. I guess I can leave you crits about colors and stuff. but even colors you use in a different way ^^ You make it hard for me, really^^

but i think if you change the name of that layer it will unlock it so you can add other ones under it. =)

dile- hehe, thanks dude, ill just keep making it harder
nah ill try and get some regular stuff in.
dan- but the layer has a white background on it, its like painting on the canvas in painter, impossible to fix unless you use the infamous magic wand
lee- haha, yeah i GUESS, but i like having the layers perfectly clean!

hmm this last update doesn't seem to have the appeal that is in the other ones. Don't know why that is though, maybe it's just me
