Warning Nudity, May Get Deleted Yet Here Goes A Try!

So that the little Icon appearing on the front page does not display the nude picture my first is a special effects creation put together with Corel Draw 12, and the KPT Collection. The idea is a double edged sword reflecting these ideas; How human beings can feel totally isolated in society as a result of the fast paced world we live in where no one has any time for friendship, and secondly the possible feelings aliens may have in their unsuccessful attempt to communicate and make contact with humanity due to humans inability to believe they are being sent messages by them through telepathic or electronic means.
Have you ever seen a strange flash on your computer screen that looked really bizarre and unaccountable? How about mentally, have you ever experienced a vision that looked totally alien? My image here as one example. There is a program called Paint Shop Pro that has this special effects filter called kaleidoscope, it seems when you apply this filter to the right image you get in return all kinds of bizarre forms that appear like aliens from outer space or souls from hell screaming in agony. Could this be some strange phenomena where something is trying to contact us through our modern technology?

Photo to Painting to Special Effects With PSP.

Here is a strange type of phenomena that I understand occurs quite frequently with Paint Shop Pro's Kaleidoscope Special Effects.
The photo and painting are from Yosemite Park.

    Finally the Image with Nudity.

Here is an idea that came across to my mind as a form of self expression from watching some pornographic films. I truly believe this.
Image of Jesus Christ is clip art from a software program Print Shop Deluxe.
Clip art was placed on a layer in Painter and then reduced in opacity.
The rest of the image is my own original art work using Painter.

I don't think you should be relying so much on preset effects...

Ok, this is just too easy to ridicule, so rather than that I'll just critique the art.

I'm not going to comment on the kaleidescope images, 'cos I just don't know what point you are trying to make. But as for the last piece, I think that using the imagery of porn in a protest against it is crass. Personally I have no feelings about porn one way or the other, but by using the thread title you did, & that underage looking model, you are as guilty of exploitation as the industry you are rallying against. Plus, her face just looks freakily twisted.

I just can't go on with this. I never cease to be amazed by the people the internet throws up....

I would never delete an art thread, no matter how bizarre/clueless. None of this stuff remotely belongs in Finally Finished, though.

Kaleidoscope image – As an illustration of an idea, what it says to me is “pretty pattern”. It fails to convey what you have written in text. It sounds by what you have written that you have a background in fine arts, in which long-winded explanations are standard. Around here, an image has to explain itself, and for that, representational art is usually required.

The assorted Photoshop tree images – applying filters to photos is a craptastic way to make an entertaining image. Paint your images – don’t rely on the magic digital buttons to do your work, unless you want to be forgotten among the legions of didn’t-make-it-past-beginner-level artists.

The porn – Sorry, I can’t in good conscience help make an image that promotes Christianity, so no comment. Except. . . can't help myself. . . if porn is against your morals, why are you watching it??

I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

Wow, Im not even sure what to say here. I have alot I want to say but I think Ill just keep it to myself for the sake of decorum. The only thing I can really comment on is the art and I use the term loosely. The first one really isnt anything but shapes and vectors with a poor choice of font layed on top of it. It reall doesnt illustrate the rather outlandish concept behind it. The second one I guess I can see where your going with it although I dont necessarily agree with the message. As it stands now its very flat. There isnt enough range in value. Humans generally arent pink and the only place that that particular color fits is on her face where there might be make up Im assuming. Considering that she is missing out on God's warmth you would figure she'd be less flushed looking. It could have served to push the message if she actually looked as if she were cold. There are serious anatomy issues with the face. Breasts dont sit apart like that when theyre being pushed together. Get a reference and actually work from it carefully.

you were watching porn, you concluded that the ppl getting fuxxed for your entertainment need God. so, you drew a naked girl and pasted jesus in the background. and then, the aliens tried to contact you? whoa, what a day!

...i dunno, man - they might be looking in on us to see how the experiment is going, but i really doubt they'd have any interest at all in actually communicating.

re the art, the painting seems interesting. you might want to post a less pixelated version, tho.

Kaleidoscope filter..? faces looking back..? Jesus talking through porn...? lay off the wacky tabaky bro, stay away from the pink acid,
Have you ever seen a strange flash on your computer screen that looked really bizarre and unaccountable?
If you're using Windows its called the blue screen of death, if you get it you will die in seven days...unless...you start a chain letter and send it to 100 people who in turn send me a dollar each.

I didn't know we had this many 'me too' posters on CA.

Seriously, you have a decent foundation with rendering, but you have to skip the filter/clipart crap and just DRAW if you want to become better. What most of the people here mean when they say "I don't get it" is that the image and the concept behind it makes no sense. It looks like Jesus is endorsing pornography.

So.... just draw, and post here again when you have a slightly less 'odd' piece to show.

I like the weird bird peeking up Jesus's sleeve just to see what else might be up there. As for the art... the two samples are pretty different. One was made by pressing a button in PSP, the other one took a little time to render out. I think the biggest problem with the rendered piece is the difference in fidelitly between the clip art and your painted piece. Technically, they're just too different. Conceptually, I'd think Jesus would be staring at her boobs.

Interesting comments here about my artwork. Thanks everyone.

First comment, the one with Jesus does not endorse pornography, the idea of Jesus Christ is that God is forgiving of our sins. The idea of open arms of warmth in a situation of a naked soul that is cold, lost and lonely, someplace high on top of a mountain, is an attempt to portray the forgiveness and willingness of God to accept us with open arms despite all of our mistakes and sins. The twisted look on the woman's face is an interesting observation that someone mentioned here. Picasso got this type of message across very well in the painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. My attempt here was actually taken from the cover of an advertisement this porn company sent me in the mail called Spice TV catalog. They had a picture of this woman called Cytherea (not sure if this is her real name or a fictitious character) on the cover that I used for a reference. The porn films that motivated me to paint this image were of Asia Carrera (I have never seen any films of Cytherea). Strangely a year after I created this idea Asia has experienced some really tragic circumstances in her life.

Sorry to hear so many negative comments on my art abilities. I have educated, worked, and practiced with painting and drawing for many years.
I am 53 years of age now, started at the age of 14. So far as working on improving anything, I am really at the point where I feel there is not much else I can do to improve anything. Since venturing into computer artwork I never make any money drawing or painting, although years ago working with natural media I did occasionally sell pieces that helped in the cost of supplies. At this point I intend to do what I want since no one is paying me to do anything. I intend to enjoy what I am doing, or exercise my right to free speech on subjects that I feel strongly about by attempting to convey a message through a story theme in my artwork.
I have worked on artwork for many years (four years of career training in my early years that computer technology made obsolete). From years of working in natural media, I appreciate things like special effects since they make life much easier. I learned from working with natural media for many years that doing things the hard way is totally ridiculous. From years of working with rub on graphics, sign painting and lettering by hand, and other techniques worked upon in natural media, I was soured by the computer graphics software that started to emerge. I resisted working with computers for many years since all that I learned and practiced was threatened by obsolescence. During the 1990's I did nothing with the exception of a few drawings and made a fairly good living spending my time making a living with inventory work. Back in 2004 I finally started learning computer art due to circumstances that lead me in this direction blindly without any planning on my part, simply fate and a lot of time to work and practice. I feel that taking advantage of all the special effects and ways of saving time and money using this software are worth while. I find the KPT collection is an incredible way of adding special effects that would take countless hours using natural media. The image above with the Yosemite Park kaleidoscope was simply put here to prove my claim of how weird images seem to appear from the mathematical formulas that were used to write the Paint Shop Pro's software, they appear as visual images, this is a weird un-explainable phenomena. I sometimes wonder if some advanced form of life and intelligence may use this as a form of communication. Another alternative thought is this may be a form of communications from the spiritual world. If you have ever heard Coast to Coast AM radio with George Norry and Art Bell, you may not jump to the conclusion that I am using hallucination inducing drugs. Instead there is some scientific verification and hypothetical conclusions supporting the existence of life outside the planet earth in this universe. I try to keep an open mind of thinking about the mysteries of this world and universe that we live in, yet hope and believe that God is the answer. Then again, as once written in a book entitled "Chariot of the Gods" perhaps everything in the Bible and our belief in a God is connected to superior life and intelligence in the universe that created life on earth.
In conclusion, I do not use any drugs with the exception of caffeine in coffee.
If I am on drugs, that would be the result of being poisoned without my knowledge. Thanks for the return messages here, your time, criticism and consideration are appreciated. I hope to make some good friends here, since people with similar interests is something I need to find out here in this lonely world of people that are not interested in artwork.

you think you dont you need to improve?
hahahha, OMG, thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard in my life.
oh, and working in natural media is ridiculous??
haha, ok, this has GOT to be a joke, nobody in their right mind who is a true artist would ever say something so completely stupid.

    Stephen Lo Piano,

    Hoooooooooooly shit.

First off, your work looks like it's a very nice hobby of yours. But, you simply are not a serious illustrator when you're putting clip art in your work and relying upon the 'easiness' of the special effects that you enjoy so much. You want some respect for the work you're doing? THEN DO THE ACTUAL WORK! Stop thinking that Photoshop tricks and clip art mean something.

You embarrass yourself with your silly rationale for how you approach your pictures.

Also, when you have to say (okay, type) a two-ton essay explaining your work, then it shows that you're just starving for attention. It's not about showing your work so others can absorb what you've done, so much as it's about you needing to justify your existence on this planet, and you'll bore people with your endless explanations, even if it kills everyone in the process.

I don't care about your "god" hallucinations. Though I see that you're really kinky, jerking off to Jesus Christ. Hey, each to his own. Jesus does have that nice swimmer's build, after all... and I can see how you get off on Mary Magdelen, like you're maybe seeing her image in a tomato or something, like many other people see her image in a piece of toast, or a bowl of macaroni & cheese. With your love of porn, you could say that Mary sure gets around!

I also don't care that the aliens have anally probed you to the point where you think your inspiration comes from the 'spiritual world'. Simply put, your work is on the level of that of the diehard amateur, or of the average DeviantArt.com furry illustrator.

I believe you when you say you do not do drugs. But, I hope you do have enough tinfoil to make a very strong helmet for yourself, so you can block the alien mind-rays, so you don't hallucinate again so much.

IN OTHER WORDS, STOP BEING A PRETENTIOUS ASS AND DO MORE ACTUAL WORK THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!

Holy crap, I almost fell into a coma trying to read your ramblings. Just do the work, and stick with that. Stop the bullshit explanations.

Piano - ditch the computer and go back to the mediums you were happy with. And quit spouting nonsense about the computer making those mediums obsolete. Five minutes of research should demonstrate how incorrect that assumption is.

Complete 2- I did not say there is no need to work in natural media, I said there is no need to do things the hard way when there is an easier way of accomplishing an intended result. I may have mush for brains yet I am at least flexible enough to know when change is a good thing and not a stubborn mule.
If you choose to live in the past then so be it, this new technology offers all kinds of exploration into art designing possibilities that have never been charted.
You sound like the old hack I used to be; too stubborn to try something new.
So far as illustrations of special effects are concerned, if you have ever seen some of the artwork in the Hearts of Space music catalog that is included on CD covers you will see some really neat special effects in professional illustration form.
It sounds like we have a lot of die hard purists here, thats okay if you want to spend the rest of your life doing the same thing over and over again. Some people do like to break free from the traditional and explore different alternatives. My first interest in this type of special effects creation started in college within a Pascal programming course where I spent a lot of time using mathematical formulas in programming code to create different shapes and designs. What I see today in a lot of special effects programs is something I only could dream about doing back around 1990.

Try the KPT Collection, you might find out it is really neat.
Here's what you are missing out on.
I did this pen and ink drawing on paper (natural media) back around 1982.
I always wanted to get a repeat pattern that looked as though it was fading off into infinity. With the KPT Collection I accomplished the task of repeat patterns using the Special Effects filters Projector, and Hyper Tiling. I am very happy with the results.

Title of the this drawing; Haley's Comet

I dont know why there is so much hate in this thread? My oppinion is that Stephen should keep doin what he finds being fun, n I've seen some really really nasty comments in here, n its a bit uncalled for. I absolutely dissagree with most things that Stephen is saying, but remember free speech people. Hate is never good, doesn't solve any problems, so show some mercy dammit! Constructive is the way to go, and I think that if ya plan to comment here, ya should focus less on taunting. Though I really want to point out that I find that you, stephen, should try to be more open and really try to make things that means somethin for real. Making sence can be a good thing. Improving is ALWAYS good mate, no one is ever "finnished" artistwize. You should take this in a constructive way Piano-man.

Father Christmas will mess you up.

I suggest you look around Stephen and realize how many people in this place use a digital medium. The difference between them and you is most of them know (or are in the process of realizing) that you need a solid foundation in anatomy to do anything in your chosen medium, whether that's digital or traditional, about anatomy. The same goes with colour, value, and design.

Your digital designs look washed out and lacking. They don't seem to have a purpose. Please do not try to explain the purpose to me, by the way, as that touches on another important purpose of the artist - communication.

You need to be able to communicate your ideas clearly and efficiantly. If we don't get what's going on in your picture, or don't see the value in what you do, it's not because we are so inflexible, it's you're fault. Through errors of placement, colour, and anatomy, you have created an image that looks like a badly rendered and coloured woman who wants to seduce us through the help of jesus. Here's my suggestion for the proper communication of the theme of redemption:

    - Have the woman clearly laying on a mountaintop
    - have her skin cool coloured, as opposed to red hot, to show how cold she is.
    - have her trying and failing to clothe herself, with a grimace on her face, to show that she does not like her situation.
    - have jesus standing before her, reaching out to her, smilng, to show that he wishes to help.

Invest some time in getting better at rendering, colouring, and communication. Look past the flame posts here and realize that we're all here to tell you what's wrong, and how to improve (at least I am, I know lots of people want to egg you on to gain another 'funny' thread, but I really don't like CAers getting offensive, when no offense was given)

haley's comet is really nice. if you have any more like it, plz post!

re "special effects"...i completely agree that the digital medias open up new vistas. BUT, it's imperative to understand that your computer is not teh philosopher's stone, it's just another tool. don't replace your artistic expression with advertisements for digital filtering techniques.
