How's this looking?
All constructive criticism welcome. Bite me!
This is an old but popular creature of mine done years ago in trad materials (Gouache, pencils and indian ink on board) which for inexplicable reasons is my most popular picture on Epilogue. This version has a completely new background entirely cobbled from random colour and tone blobs processed through numerous filters on photoshop. The critter's been plopped in and adjusted to fit. It looks alright to me but I've been looking at it too long to be objective

The figure is great, the background must go. There are few circumstances in which anything outside of a narrow range of generic filters will augment an image.
My suggestion would be to take the current background and use the geometry it implies to paint a new one, within photoshop. I'm imagining a gentle hillside slope of earth with patches of plants growing around but it really shouldn't be too difficult within the constraints given by the perspective on the creature to come up with a multitude of other backgrounds.
