he is my favorite comedian. has anyone seen the new show he did? "vicious circle". i thought that one was good as well - not as funny as his others but funny enough.
anywho what do you guys think of hiM?
just curious.

I think that there is a certain charm to his delivery and enthusiasm that I enjoy, altho I do not condone his stealing of others materials, I believe that he has a great ability as an entertainer. Perhaps he just needs to hire new writers.
I like Lewis Black (Angry fellow he is...), and the first time I saw Demitri Martin I was rollin' on the floor.
Never cared for Dane Cook. I actually liked Kevin James' Comedy Central special alot as well. He could be extremley funny without having to be gross (which is quite an accomplishment nowdays)
I watched two different stand-ups with him after I heard ppl complain about him on here, and I didn't laugh once. He was really....blah. Nothing controversal, or lame, or anything...just BLAH.
I guess I'm missing the jokeS.
I think it's cool not to like him now, just as it was cool for frat boys to love him last year. All I know is I laugh my balls off listening to "Harmful if Swallowed"...
there's two types of comedians,
there's mitch hedberg
and there's not mitch hedberg.
oh i'm not that big a fan of dane cook at all. he's kinda all flash and not much substance.
Bless you.Originally Posted by jrr

Okies. now im really changing my mind about him - i better tell a friend of mine whos really obsessed with him. i mean literally she has him on her ipod and "broadcasts it" around school. so yep.
...this kinda reminds me of the denis leary hype.
the absurdities of contemporary politics would make so much more sense if bill hicks was still around.

BTW, My own personal saviour is George Carlin.
Mitch Hedburg has been my favourite comic ever since I first saw him on Letterman years ago, and I imagine he'll continue to be my favourite for years to come.

Danes alright, but his material all kind of runs together for me for some reason. I liked 'Retaliation' when I heard it though.
Still, Patton Oswalt and David Cross are champions.
Denis Leary all the way!!!!
I personally don't like Dane Cook, I love it when they make fun of him on MAD Tv

denis leary stole all his best stuff from bill hicks.
educateur urself
from wiki:
"For many years, Leary had been friends with fellow comedian Bill Hicks. However, when Hicks heard Leary's 1992 album No Cure For Cancer he felt Leary had stolen his act and material. The friendship ended abruptly as a result.
Comedians, Joe Rogan, Susannah Bianchi and Tim McIntire, have since publicly stated that they believe Leary stole not just some of Hick's material (accusations of which are not unknown in comedy circles), but his persona and attitude, and that similar feelings were felt within the comedy industry. As a result of this, it is claimed that after Bill Hicks' death from pancreatic cancer, an industry joke began to circulate about Leary's transformation and subsequent success (roughly; "Question: Why is Denis Leary a star while Bill Hicks is unknown? Answer: Because there's no cure for cancer").
As comedian and actress Susannah Bianchi put it, "When [Bill Hicks] said, 'I hate Billy Ray Cyrus.' - he meant it. When Leary said that, it was only part of an act."[7]
During Denis Leary's roast, comedian Lenny Clarke, a friend of Leary's, said there was a carton of cigarettes backstage from Bill Hicks with the message, "Wish I had gotten these to you sooner." This joke was cut from the final broadcast.
The controversy surrounding plagiarism is also mentioned in American Scream: The Bill Hicks Story by Cynthia True:
Leary was in Montreal to host the Nasty Show at Club Soda and Colleen was coordinating the talent so she was standing backstage when she heard Leary doing material that sounded incredibly similar to old Hicks riffs, including his perennial Jim Fixx joke: ("Keith Richards outlived Jim Fixx, the runner and health nut dude. The plot thickens.") When Leary came offstage, Colleen said, more stunned than angry, "Hey, you know that's Bill Hicks's material! Do you know that's his material?" Leary stood there, stared at her without saying a word, and briskly left the dressing room.
When asked about Leary, Hicks told an interviewer: "I have a scoop for you. I stole his act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did."
man forget all that noise.. Lewis Black babyand dane cook's not the first guy to steal or 'borrow' material from another comedian. that fat idiot 'larry the cable guy' stole all sorts of bits from [get this] Def Comedy Jam comedians. guess he banks on the chance that no one in HIS audience would have ever watched that show.. - JAG
it's only after you've lost everything, that you're free to do anything..

Demitri Martin took me by surprise too. I enjoyed Cook years ago, but like everything, fame destroys quality
Dane Cook is so unfunny, that it's now national news: CNN
That's the first time he made me laugh.
squidmonk3j-Thanks for all that info. Everybody steals from everybody else in everything in life, you just have to do enough research to find that out.
I personally like his comedy and don't want to get into the politics of it all.
Everybody has a reason not to like something. I JUST WANT TO LAUGH!!!!

Just because you yell something doesnt make it funny.
yeah seriously..............................more like annoying than funny.

Some people find yelling and swearing funny. I personally think Dane Cook's comedy sucks.
He's so sexy! LOL!

well....this is the first i heard of this...and now ive lost respect for DC. oh well.
Yeah, Cook grates on my nerves.
Seems there aren't so many good stand ups any more. The only comedian I've ever cared enough to see live was the late great Mitch Hedberg. Saw him about a year before he slammed so much smack in his arm that he died. Dammit.
wooah...that's fine, manOriginally Posted by Lone Wolf

regardless of him stealing material he's 10 times the stage performer and makes the joke a hundred times better in my opinion
