HI there. Not a bad way to start off a SB thread by a long shot. My fav's the colour portrait (oils?) Not so hot on the robotic dog thing, looks too convoluted (if that's the word.)

Nice mechanical stuff and the painting is very pretty.

I like the Lara Croft one even thought it's unfinished, cause you downsized her boobs substantially, and she looks like an actual (although badass) person! Woo.

that's an absolutely gorgeous painting, and the lara croft piece has a fantastic softness to the rendering. I also really like seeing how you worked through the robotic piece in layers.

keep it up man! The workshop will be a blast for you.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I haven't figured out how to put comments under each image...grrr. The painting above is 8x10 oil on panel study of a girl I was able to bribe into sitting for me. The Lara Croft drawing is really old and has gotten quite damaged over the years.

Below are some more recent life drawing/painting from 10 & 20 minute poses plus a copy after zorn:

Some sculpture concept sketches in waterclay or supersculpey, about an hour each plus an abandoned bust of Anthony Hopkins in Chavant NSP clay. I posted some of these b4 under my brother's account.

Good stuff man. That's the first I've seen of your painting. I particularly like the Zorn copy. It has beautiful soft feel to it.

    Thanks Steen.
The sculpts are from 4 years ago...damn I miss sculpting. My entire stash of clay have all dried on me, except the WED Clay which is awesome stuff (stands for Walter E. Disney clay).

Do you recognize the first painting above - Girl named Alex from Eckerd figuredrawing?

She's not ringing a bell at the moment. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time.

Hey, can I ride in your suitcase to insomnia?

Thanks HP. It was fun hanging out with u too. I can't wait til the next workshop. In fact I wanna move to SF now.

    [edit]
Weird, attachments aren't working the same way as in the Insomania pics thread so the captions don't work.

Below are A couple sketches from Insomania I was happy with:
2 min sketch of Kevin Llewellyn, sketch of model.

I just made myself a 6x8 paintbox so I have something small to take to the next workshop

I'm so broke from Insomania I can't buy any gifts so I'm giving art.
    Christmas presents:
    chloe, lucy, diego, alex, jaylee.

Hey man! Nice stuff you got here. I seem to remember seeing your sketchbook open somewhere at the workshop. Wonderful sculptures.

I've got a couple of crits for you at the moment.

Pay close attention to basic 3 dimensional forms. Your portraits and renderings have a good feel and likeness to them but they lack some depth.

For painting my favorite quote is this one "Every mark has perspective" meaning every brush stroke should build the form of the object. The direction, length, and width of each stroke matter. Try looking and thinking about each stroke 10 times as long as it takes to put it down. Try to accomplish as much as possible with each stroke. How can I use one stroke instead of 10 to convey my ideas? Each stroke has a purpose and should be charged with meaning. Take another look at Hussar's stuff. Every stroke and every shape in his Alla Primas serve a purpose (and they all relate to eachother on top, that guy is sick!).

I'm a pallete dork so I'd like to know what the theory behind yours is if you don't mind. I noticed one of your drawings is from Art Center. Are you a student there?

That doggy is bad ass. By far my favorite!

Keep it up! I'm so happy to see another Oil Painter on here!
