Announcing The Absolutely Adorable Rot-Your-Teeth Vector-Only Challenge!

This was suggested by a conversation between Magicgoo and Steph Laberis in the last vector challenge, and since the calendar and TD events are winding down, I thought it was time to really make a fool of ourselves...

THIS IS VECTOR-ONLY! How you interpret the topic is up to you. Whatever treatment/style you use is up to you. Anything goes...as long as it's VECTOR ONLY.

    And the topic is...

    We Wuv Dwessup...
The only requirement besides VECTOR-ONLY art is that your final entry has to be so Pukey-Cute that even the sugar freaks and grandmas here will hurl chunks. I'm talkin' pink fluffy lisping big-teary-eyed mopery that will make even Tom Kinkaid stick a 9mm in his mouth and pull the trigger...

This challenge is running simultaneously with the "MASKED" vector-only challenge, but you can't use the same art for both...

Official Starting Time: Monday, November 6, 2006

Deadline: Sunday, November 26 ,2006, at midnight where ever you are. (I've extended the deadline one more week because of the holidays coming and to make sure everybody who's busy on other challenges has a chance to enter...)

    Ground rules:

You can scan a guide sketch in, but it can't be a part of the final art in any way. It must be deleted before you post.

All art, including any linework, coloring, shading, etc., must be VECTOR ONLY. You can't use any part of your app that executes as a rasterized image. No brushes, no rasterizing filters, no nothin' that you're used to in Photoshop and Painter. This includes the brush tool in Illustrator. Pen only.

You can use any filters as long as they don't rasterize the image to work properly. This rules out most, if not all, photoshop filters. Basically, pretend you're working in Illustrator 4.x or so, or its equivalent.

Coloring can include standard fills, the blend and gradient tools, and any opacity and deformation tools controls you might have access to, AS LONG AS THEY DON'T CHANGE THE ART TO A RASTER IMAGE to execute properly. The first time around, I asked for the "outline/wire-frame" version to prove you really did a vector-only drawing, but I think you're all honest people, so that won't be necessary this time around. But... trust me, I'll know if you're cheating...

Once your art is done, convert it to a jpeg for posting. Color sometimes muddies a bit in the conversion, so MINIMAL correction is allowed at this point, but DON'T add any additional detail or art effects. Make sure your jpg title includes your nick so I can keep track of them (for example, "magicgoo-blahblah.jpg").

WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED: Post your final piece in this thread. I'll open up the final poll Monday night after I transfer all the entries to my Image Event account.

TRASH TALK and attempts at killing your competition with flowery/sugary descriptions of your coming entry are MANDATORY! Collateral damage is to be expected... Jason has agreed to hire a special Haz-Mat crew to clean the place after this thing comes to its disgusting end....

Anyone who wants in is in. You can post your involvement here. All judging will be by open poll, and reports of viewers being hospitalized for "sugar overload" after seeing your entry will definitely count in your favor during judging.

    Good drawing...

boy this looks like fun. unfortunately the only vector program I was ever any good at was Freehand. And I couldn't afford to up date it to OSX. I hate illustrator, I started with I88 (yes I am That old) and switch to FH as soon as possible. even prefered Corel Draw... NOw the university gives me Illustrator.....I hate it.... So unless any one wants to give me a free updated version of Freehand......I'll just watch this oone from the side lines....holding tightly to my insulin syringe

Carni...don't worry about how good you think you are. You passed the 5 year old test, my daughter loved it. In fact she loved them all!

Entdroid, you do not need to refer to yourself as "self-proclaimed" any longer. I'm certain there are plenty of people shouting it from the hilltops!

Alright...here it is. It may be a bit past 12:00 here, but damnit if I didn't have to give up the ol' PC for my wife to look up "facial cream". I mean seriously...who needs to know the sub-molecular workings of the chemistry of facial cream at 11:30 PM? Ah well...

FYI, tonight I went and bought a book to learn this shit. I couldn't do half of the things I wanted to try! A week on the road ought to be enought time to get through 1266 pages
