Thank you guys, you guys are great. Please give me more C&C because on my own I don't know if my works are good enough or how should I change my work to make them better. With you guys, I hope that I can be better day by day.
For composition tutorials, I can recommend tutorials from Mr Feng Zhu. Even thought he has never taught me anything directly, I feel that I learned from him a lot through these videos. You guys can check his videos right here:
Elophant: hey, thank you.
I didn't aware of the 3 character on the same spot before you mention that to me. That's a great help because this is the sign that I have to change my composition more and more often.
continue on For Kanon:
In this painting, I want to explore and have the overall concept for the trash planet, which is called Krocnato. This is one of the biggest trash planet that is flying around on the system.
For this painting, I find it interesting to design a cube shape planet that look strange but also have some familiarity in it. For that reason, I used some earth textures for the planet and put a sphere shape planet beside it for scale. ^^
I'll try to design more things for this planet such as the inhabitants and do some environment shots. ^^
As I said that For Kanon is a visual development project, so I'm not only doing environment works but also have to do character, vehicle and creature works. I'm really not good at these fields but since this project is the chance for me to do and try some other types of entertainment design, I just have to try ... with my best.
And here is a thumbnail sketch on some of Krocnato inhabitants, I want them to have a post-apocalyptic feel, dangerous and fearsome. So these guys are some kind of bandit. They living together, hunting and robbing from other parties on the planet. They call themselves Red Fang.
I will work more on them, how they organize their band and who is their boss. ^^
Here are some environment shots for Krocnato Planet. I just keep doing from this to that, such as designing some environment shots and then trying to do character designs, so that this project won't be so boring hehe.
These painting was paint in Photoshop, each of them took 1-2 hours.
Lovely dynamic enviros. I'm the opposite, I love character and creature design and suck massively at enviros. From what I've seen of great character and creature designers a board of 10 or so rough silhouettes is the way to do it and refine the ones that strike you or maybe ask someone else which they prefer. Maybe you should check out last week CHOW wasteland marauder for some ref on those characters?
Urötskidoji thank you ^^ GEB thanks man, I checked the last CHOW, that subject is really inspiring.
Here is a gun design for those Red Fang guys. I haven't done any gun design before so this is like an experiment for me. The point is too capture the post-apocalyptic feel for this gun design, which is based on the design of Ak-47.
Photoshop + Wacom + 3 hours.
All C&C are welcome.
i really like happy birthday, and the cube world
thinking about it, if the earth was a cube, everywhere apart from the centre of the faces would seem like a hilll because the middle of the faces is closest to the centre of gravity, and the edges and corners would be like ridges and mountain peaks. wierd.
Urötskidoji: thank you ^^ Velocity Kendall: haha, I think the earth would be different then.
Here is my personal works, took 8-10 hours for this.
The concept stage is really relaxing and interesting. I just come up from nothing, build it up slowly and then add more subject to it. The whale creatures are an example of this, they were added in the final stage. ^^
AdrianNagorski: hey thanks, will try my best to make your eyes fill more with water of joy. ^^
Here is my other finished piece. Spent about 12hours in it, got a little problem with the castle and it's look kinda weird though, but this is like an experimental so I keep going on with it. Gotta admit that I'm not good at perspective, tried my best with image. ^^
All C&C are welcome.
