Three years ago on Halloween I had an appointment with an Oncologist that I had been referred to. Neo, from the matrix, checked me in at the front desk, a French maid took my blood pressure, and as we watched a class of kindergarteners march by outside in costumes, the doctor advised me that I better start chemo if I wanted a greater than 50% chance of surviving my skin cancer. It should have been a bizarre joke, but it wasn't. The next year, a co-worker of mine had the same disease, same doctor and same treatment... and a much less happy ending: http://overcode.yak.net/3
So sometimes I think that ripping my skin off might not be a bad idea.

So this is me as a demon/devil that is being redeemed; being pulled back up to heaven.
Looks like I made it in time. Great entries everyone.
Trick or treat...

Alright gents, coming here to post this WIP sketch to also clarify something:
Here's a rough design sketch for my character. Now, the basis of it is very Cenobitesque in nature, so I'm wondering, does that consitute as creature? I mean, my character is going to be somewhat dapper, and a bit more clothed than I imagine some of the other entries (I'm only assuming), so am I good to go with this?

I'm in, this should be good, I'll start posting WIP's tonight.
First WIP, didn't want to bite on super's idea of the whole underwater monster creature, but the Merman was my favorite when I was a kid.

This is my idea sketch. I'll try to finish it.

First thing that came to mind.
I think the most amusing part is that if I dressed up as a box monster people would know it's me.
I'm known for wearing absurd costumes to themed events... Things that I threw together in 5 minutes. It's a very effective ice-breaker.

my first idea: me as matador impaled by a taurus

I figured it'd be best to start with a portrait first, but I already started adding some horns.
I tried my best to make it looks like me.. well me plus horns and fangs. Oh yea, and I made my motorcycle look a bit cooler than it really is lol.

the spice, the worms...is there a connection?
every halloween i like to rock out to the devils of noise and
badassness. sometimes my drummer likes to solo all hardcore for like 12 minutes
and then a big face screams tough-ass mantastic lyrics
is that a good enough description? i hope so
im not good at em
and a detail

cognition, i'm amazed with your economy... thats such a well drawn image, yet its quite simple.
camara, i cant wait to see how it turns out, you obviously have a flare for character design, so much personality in your WIP
tim- i fully support tutoriatarianism!
trevor- amazing composition! there isnt anywhere in the picture that my eyes dont want to be.
thanks alot guys for all the advice with the lineart, i've decided to try flattening it to my color layer and painting with it. I accept the lineart with an open heart now. as per Chuck's observation that line in a color that blends with your palette is easier to incorporate than black outline, i changed the color. but everyones suggestions have been super helpful
kian- badass angle man, classic spookyness

Here's a WIP. The general premise is that I'm pealing out of my skin because I'm a melanoma survivor. Maybe it'll make a good candy sack.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum...just wanted to do this challenge cuz the idea is so brilliant
Kinda rushed this one cuz i have 2 final exams coming up tomorrow...but i thought the idea of me as a Jack-in-the-Box for Halloween is pretty sweet (sorry if the fact that I'm in a box breaks the "3/4 of body must be shown rule "
"The Creature was glowing eerily in a shade of crimson. As it slowly loomed in from the darkness, Bob and Jill realised to their horror, not only was the Trick O’ Treating creature a giant sized Jack-in-the-Box…it was also ………………*insert suspenseful drum roll*…..
…………......Made in China."
PS: I'm not trying to be racist or anything with the description, I'm from China and I'm just basically lamenting the fact that I never really got to Trick O' Treat when I was young ....I'm saying "Happy Halloween" btw if anyone is interested
PPS: Is it alright if I have a white border? Just wanted to have some contrast
Anyways...any critique would be greatly appreciated...it was real fun doing this challenge and I'll be sure to do many more in the future....right after I get these pesky exams out of the way...everyone have a fun Halloween!

Under the light of the moon i awake to find myself unhindered by inhibition as a mystical source of energy erupts inside of me, and i release my inner Sexy Beast!
A demonic shell of my less sexy former self....thoez hoez wont know what hit em this halloween...
edit damn, it seems once again ive made an image thats too big and u cant make out the words when its mini sized. just in case anyone is interested in the humor here

SO pretty.... mmmmmmm.....
Happy Hall-O-Weenies kids!
Colin, accidentally, ate a bad sugar daddy, thinking that this innocent looking candy might have aphrodisiac properties. Unfortunately, the only growth that Colin experienced was that of several small spikes protruding from his head. He keeps reaching out to those who love him, yet, mysteriously, they all turn and run in terror. Perhaps Colin's green speedo is sending the wrong message, or maybe it's his skin's purple hue that seems to leave rashes on those he touches. Oh well... Next year, Colin will bother to dress up for Halloween.
