You should post more often, Chris! Diggin' the latest stuff especially. You seem to be working a bit differently in recent posts and it's very interesting to watch you evolve! I like how you're starting to ditch lines a bit more and just block in value. I'd like to see more stuff like that. The 3D work you posted is really nice. I'm a big fan of patched together metal so A+ from me! Great work!
Me too. I really want to see more stuff like your last posts. The hints and the art made me intrigued.
paperX: Thank you for your feedback! The final hairstyle fits the mood of the scenes.
flamable: Thank you. You shouldn't talk about zombieanatomy... it can't work hehe
Zebz: Thank you very much! I want to post more stuff, but I haven't much time left for new sketches this days ... but I can tell you the next posts will show more of the same style (from my last posts).
Dynamike: Thank you. Maybe you like to know I have plans to publish a free 'The Art Of MAYA' book online? ... can't tell when yet, but it will be before the first issue is finished.
And now on to todays news:
My Hillary Clinton Cover and the story why it isn't the front cover of the Female Force book anymore is discussed on TV! CNN aired a feature about the female force comic book series today. You can watch it online here:
jokerrabit: I think you are right ... but even my cover wasn't used for the front cover for the book it made its round in the press. It even was on television (CNN and so on).
max1975: That was the idea ... and wait until you see her cooking... hehe THX!
I'm very busy working on game art at www.rough-sea.com this days, so MAYA is developing very slow. Can't tell any details from the game beside it will be great and you can play it for free later down the road
Here is a small funny sketch from a blog series I started at http://blog.rough-sea.com called "Famous Movie Monsters".
Please note: If you want to see your own famous movie monster in a funny version over on the blog please feel free to write it in the comments to this post over there: http://blog.rough-sea.com/2009/04/fa...ovie-monsters/
I started with DRACULA. Here is a small MakingOf:
Here is another one. I already told you I will paint another one I like very much. The next ones are your ideas... if you have posted them over on the Dracula blog post.
You still can post your monster suggestions on the blog. For the link look at the post above.
Man did I enjoy this classic movies as a kid. Too bad nobody makes this kind of movies anymore
Here is a bigger version:
Comments and feedback always welcome!
Boris would be proud!
Hey Chris you are doing well, thats nice. Really like the Rough Stuff polar protection suit guys. They are loose and really interesting.
And congrats to the cnn story about your Hillary cover thats awesome.
Would be cool if they had mentioned your name as the artist behind it.
Fame alert ^^
Keep on rocking
Dynamike: I hope you didn't mean Boris Becker... even if he has the same pose hehe ... Thanks!
Mischeviouslittleelf: Thank you! I hope you like Chucky too!?
kischi: Thank you kischi! I know I should do more rough stuff. It is a sketchbook and most of my stuff here has nothing to do with 'real' sketches. I see the Movie Monsters as my colored sketch work. The CNN story really is surreal... but I think it is good they didn't mention my name. I don't want to be the guy who pissed off Hillary Clinton you know!
Regarding the polar protection suit sketch I hope I can show some more like it soon.
Here is a new Movie Monster from the series over at http://www.rough-sea.com

I read about your Jazmaonline.com interview on Twitter. When will it be online? There are new ones today but not yours.
Dynamike: Thx. The JazmaOnline.com Interview should be online in three+ weeks. I will post it here when it is online. Thx for your interest in me and my work.
I have much game related work but managed to work out more story details of MAYA in my spare time. But unfortunately working on secret game art and the story of MAYA in my spare time made it impossible to show any new artwork here for a while. But looking at the feedback to my last posts it seems there aren't many readers anyway...
Here is some new concept art from MAYA. I changed her look a little bit.
I'm trying to show you more stuff of MAYA soon.
Hope you dig it so far!?
Whats up chris cool sketchbook man.
Thanks for the steps ive learned alot more of how to color.
Keep it up -Omerta

OmertA: Thank you! It is really great to read you have learned something by looking at my making of pics!
cout<mecha: Thanks a lot! Yes the first one is a little bit different. I made the right ones to use it as a model sheet later.
strings: hehe Thank you! I really appreciate it. Great to know you like my stuff!!!
Here is a small update...
You're doing an awesome job with the presentation of your stuff, Chris! Gotta hand it to ya! Cool to see the Maya project moving forward! Oh.. and I love the Frankenstein!
dCepT: Thank you! I really appreciate it. I do what I can...
I was on vacation for a week and I have worked on some story details for Maya. Now I'm back and I will do some new concept art for the book in my spare time.
BTW: Over at www.rough-sea.com we have two new job offers. We are looking for a QA Manager and a Lead Programmer. So if you are interested or you know some guys who are please check it out.
I dig her design, but the breasts are a little, uh, projecting I think
surrealitycheck: Thx! Regarding her breasts: I heard this a 'lot' lately...
My vacation is over... so here is a small update:
Nice sketch! I like that you've pulled back a little on the chesticles Jack looks like a sly one..
Keep 'em coming!
dCepT: Thx! Yeah... even it's comics I think this is too much ... and regarding Jack: He is a sly one... maybe the sliest person on earth because of his... whops... that's a secret... for now
Here is a fake cover I did from an old sketch... nothing serious...
Note: Because we are on an art forum here you can see the uncensored version of this image. Over at Millarworld.tv I posted a censored version.
There is a new interview about MAYA online.
Here is the link: Click here to read the interview!
Walid D: Thank you! Great you like my style!
Not much news for today but you now can visit my website (blog) by entering characterdesigner.com into your browser! ... WOHOOO!
Lovely colors man. I like what you do with movie monsters the gritty yet clean feel. They got life.
The pose in post#265 is a hard one. Her left leg is a bit long and her boobs look real stiff. You probably noticed.
I enjoy your sketchbook.
B-Man: Thanks for your detailed feedback! I notice stuff like the boobs and the leg but with my comic sketches I often do not change it because I think comics should be rough with unrealistic anatomy which can make them 'interesting'. I do not like the photo realistic look in comics. It's OK for illustration when you are working with reference and stuff... but for comics I try to stay away from reference and draw from my imagination. That's why my stuff in the first sketch isn't looking perfect regarding anatomy but even when I notice the areas which aren't realistic I always think "Would I like to see this kind of art in a sequential story?"... and when I can answer "Yes." I move on to new stuff and save the sketch. Hope this makes sense
Here is a sketch of 'The Albino'... who is a villain from the book. I can't wait to draw the fight scenes with this guy
