    Stonejackit's Sketchbook

Ok, starting with a birthday present for a friend.
She's totally into fairies so I didn't need to think that long what to paint. It's all done in Painter, mostly airbrush and sponges for the grounding.
The idea comes from the diploma of a friend which was about fairies in a guys flat. One of the fairies has killed a bumblebee and is towering over the dead insect one foot atop. Since I didn't want my fairy to be that nasty, I dicided they should dance with each other.
    That's the story.

    Comments please!!

Yo, thats awesome, lighting is good, especially on the wings! Whole thing is pretty good, background seems alittle dull compared to the foreground but then again i'm new so take it with a pinch of salt lol.

Keep up the good work man.

    Second Entry

Back with some of my works for my company.

The first one is a portrait of a wesir (don't know the correct spelling) for a fake banknote that will be used in a movie.

Second one is a coverartwork + skribbles for a tv-series concept about a boy and his new found buddy, a 1500 pound battledroid prototype which malfunctioned and escaped his maker, the german army.

Last one is a random work I did for fun.

    Enjoy!

    Some new pics

First, for you Nils (like I promised but much too late), the finished fake banknote i did the arabic portrait for. Then some miscellaneous stuff i did for a movie project of a friend, and finally some just-for-fun drawings.

    Smile New old stuff

I haven't posted anything in the last time. Here are some pics for a tv-movie concept with some undead ww1 soldiers involved. A very fun job to do

WHOA! The WWI stuff is gorgeous. The second guys mask rendering is great, I can almost feel the shape. Where are you from (city)?

These paintings are beautiful. My favourite is the first one with the bee. But it seems that the bee is painted so marvellously that the fairy seems a bit flat for some reason. Five stars.

Thanx guys, very much appreciated. I'll try to update more frequently in the future.

Troll - I thought about answering in german but since this is a international forum I'll keep it english. I'm from Köln and working for a tv-production company best known for making action series and movies.

I like the WW1 pics myself a lot, unfortunately hadn't got the time to make more. For the gasmask I had a reference picture, guess that's why it looks more realistic

btw, just checked your sketchbook....I'm stunned about the progress in your work. Especially your color/paintingwork is great. Keep it up, man!

Placeboast - yeah, you are right. With the bee it was the same thing as with the gasmask: i painted it after a real life photo. I had a reference for the fairy too, but unfortunately that damn little flying bitch somehow managed too escape from the marmelade jar. Nasty thing!

I very like the zombie soldier and that guy with gas mask. That girl in the rain is made from ink?

That´s some serious artwork. Stark. Good to know that there are ppl in Germany able to make a living out of this trade. Köln, eh? You wouldn´t happen 2b working for "action concept" now, would you?

Is that PS you use for your stuff? Very good. The pixie pic is great for the simpicity and the undead WW1 Folks for their ruggedess. The underwater scene... are they beeing shot at?

    Post more. We´ll be looking.

    Red face

    Thanx everyone!

Dr.Pencil - no the girl in rain is actually a digital drawing done in painter. It's amazing how easy it goes. Then again, I really should draw more pieces the traditional way.

bbwolf - ahhh, you got me! ac for sure. Though I'd like to earn a living as a freelancer doing concept arts, I'm glad with my job (Storyboards + Paperworks, sometimes Posterartworks) atm. And I still do learn a lot and my folio is growing constantly. I only wish I had more time doing my own stuff. And for your questions: mostly PS and some Painter (Underwaterpics + Epsilon) and pencils of course. And that are bullets indeed in the waterscene. Ok, ok, the trails are a little overdone

Here is an old pencil study back from art school.
And our favorite caped crusader in secret mission.

*a-heh* I thought so. I can understand what you feel like. I used to work for a company doing leisure park animatronics and the job was cool but I felt the need to do my own stuff. Same now in a different job. Fortunatly they don´t require your level of skill.

The caped crusader looks good. Very Dark Knight style. Witht he typical frown.
The skull looks VERY OLD school.
