I don't mind the wait; gives me a chance to stop being so broke from Insomania.

So this is going to be the first in a series, right? Do we get to know who's doing one next?

Please Jason if you're reading this, make the content downloadable. Portuguese and most other european Customs are killing off products with outrageous taxes.

Ordered. Shipping to Sweden was totally affordable, $11.40. And with the current exchange rate it's really affordable.

Dan_Grr: I don't know how it is in Portugal, but here in Sweden I only had to pay taxes once when ordering from US, and that was most likely cause it was shipped with UPS (think they have some policy about the tax-thing). This one is shipped with USPS (US Postal Service).

Things here get stuck at customs for months. Months. Some get lost, some get 100% taxing of the overall price, apart from the Added Value Tax from Portugal, which is 21% of the product. My request is falling in a void, so I guess I'll think it over. Or I'll take my chances.

    What about region codes?

I want this DVD. I don't even mind outrageous shipping costs and having to wait for two months to get it.
But I do want to be able to watch it when I get it...
My standalone DVD player only plays Region 2 and I can only change my DVD drive's RC five times before it locks itself forever.

So if this DVD is Region Coded then I don't think I can get it... which would totally stink.

Can anyone confirm wether the DVD is Region coded?

    Marko's DVD

    Marko you're an incredible artist.

    Congratulations on your DVD.

I'm sure it's chock full of inspiration. I'm interested in how you paint, does the DVD feature much of your painting process?

I know Jason has said this is not a "paint by numbers" but this would be my interest and I would love to see Marko laying down the tones (man).

    Thanks

The DVD is NTSC, so European viewers will probably only be able to view it on their computers. Other than that there shouldn't be any region encoding.

Really insightful dvd, just watched it through fully. No doubt i'll watch it many times through. Fot me just watching Marko work is great for me as it gave me an insight into the way he works. Great production, good design with easy to navigate menus...great. If anyone is apprehensive about wether to buy this or not, just ask yourself. Do i want to learn things to improve my art and way of thinking towards art? If you do then buy it, any resource that helps you learn and inspires you is invaluable imo. People concerned about costs really shouldnt be. Delivery for me was $11, which at UK rates is around £5. It really isnt expensive and other training dvd's are priced much higher and so are the delivery costs.

    Marko
I dont have any complaints so no email from me hehe. Really good tutorials and thanks for doing this. Hope you do more of these in the future as you mentioned you may do, unless i was hearing things hehe. I also liked the documentary that you included on the second disc. Massive Black seems like a really great place to create artwork in. Good atmosphere and everyone seems close and gets on really well.

    Cheers!

Just watched the first half and the documentary. Pretty good thus far. Although, I will admit that most of it I felt like I had already seen while sitting and watching him work in Montreal. It was nice to have a refresher tho.

I really enjoyed the bit about Marko talking about how we each need to find our own way of working that works for us. I think the tendency is to look at the artist's you love and then just adapt yourself to be that artist or at least do things the way they do it. It's good for growing but don't get stuck in imitating. Find your own way and your own bag of tricks. And I'll be honest, I don't see any freakin' way I'd be able to put lines so cleanly and confidently down like Marko. lol When Andrew mentioned something about how it's like he's tracing these things from his head, he's right. No construction, just all balls to the wall. And it works. So most people may be frustrated to find that it doesn't offer much help beyond that. And in the mini tuts you'll see they're being honest about it. How do you get this good? Practice. 'Nuff said.

Cool, stuff guys. Can't wait to see what else you dish out. Would have liked to see more in the documentary. I remember Marko talking about his life as a child a lot in Montreal and how he grew as a kid/artist. Maybe on the next one we'll get s'more insight!

    Thanks again.
