mouser: Thanks a lot, glad to hear you like them.
Camara: Hey dude, glad you like what I do. Your progress is awesome, keep pushing your skills!

Here's a new one. Kinda reminding myself of the old speedpainting days over at Sijun when I was starting my first attempt at digital painting (2001-2002). The guys over there are a big motivation and inspiration. They make it look so easy.

Nice to hear you like it, Monsieur.

Here's a self portrait dealing with the meditation-like state I dive into when I'm painting. I look like an ugly girl in this one, other than that I'm happy. About 1hr.

So, my Nintendo DS lite finally arrived yesterday. What a blast. Colors! 1.6 is a wonderful application. It's so funny to cut down on all those wonderful helpers that you're comfortable with in Photoshop and just get back to the basics. Sure it's small, but hanging around any free minute doodling stuff is so addictive. Took me a while to get used to the pressure sensivity, which can be a little tipsy at times, and the screen's corners don't seem to accept pressure sensitivity at all, but you can use the hand-tool to move the canvas around on the screen. Zoom is 2x and 4x, which is enough to get all the detail in. The colorwheel works well, although I find the soft brush a little too harsh in terms of color-fading. Well, it's not 16 mio. colors, so what do I whine about it. Here's the first thing I made with it, didn't have a lot of time lately.

I'm messing with pencils a lot these days and this is the only speedpainting I have finished in days. Photoshop, then Painter for coward smudging. Yay for "Linear Light" blending mode. Cheers.

Thx. Daniel: Yeah, Funny I noticed that texture would be an addition to my paintings when I posted the pic below. Next time.

A sequence. First I painted the caves, then I flipped, rotated and edited until a zombie appeared. Fun stuff.

Funny form-seeing-experiment. Worked out rather well, although I was too unsure and lazy to come up with a proper filling for the guy. Expect more stuff, I'm sick and at home, no work until next monday *applause*

EDIT: Never watch horror movies when you have a temperature! I was scared shitlessly after watching Alone in The Dark, Steven King's Langoliers and The Grudge

Thanks a lot. Of course it's pr0n. I love pr0n. So here's some more... I got my Assassin's Creed art book on monday. No time to go through it completely, but damn those frenchies are too good. So here comes an assassin. I'm becoming faster already, this one's about 1 hour, full concentration mode.

    Thx alot!

Here's a moodshot I've done for a UT3 CTF map I'm planning to make as soon as my new PC arrives. Surprisingly UT3 is a lot more back to the roots than I thought. I really hope this game will resurrect the developer community, as it's clearly dead at the moment.

    Hey mate!

Some really badass stuff here- especially your environmental sketches are so moody. I would like to see some more detail in the focal points of your paintings. I think if you take a moment to think where the focal point is/ where you want it to be and detail it further than the rest of the pic it will help your compositions and depth a lot.

Keep it up dude! You are doing great.

Thanks Anthriel. I always use to state that I don't think that my sketches are good enough to add detail at all, but I will look into it with my newer paintings. I'd actually have to learn perspective and shit to make it work, but hey, let's see if I can push the mood little more. Nice sketchbook you got there btw!

Ok, so, where to begin. I have a qualifying test tomorrow to study communications design. Good uni, they have a rather good reputation for being a very practice oriented school. So, for the test, besides my portfolio, I had to accomplish three "visual interpretations of works of Francisco Goya", all with different media. Here's the first of my three takes on this guy. He has painted quite some scary and crazy stuff, which is good for a pervert like me. I picked "The Colossus" (digital painting), "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters" (Ink) and "Saturn devouring his son" (photo collage). Here's my colossus, Jimi Goya:

Looks awesome mate! I love that Jimi, really well executed. I would like to see some hands in the air though, and maybe some girl sitting on her bf's shoulders. Would add a lot life to the crowd. Looks awesome though.

    Keep it up!

    Hi,
I've just joined this forum, i saw Jabos work when i image searched for john berkey, and WOW.
Jabo, your work is just insane. Every image is an inspiration.
I'll look for the token 'welcome to the forum' thread and introduce myself there.
    anyway, brilliant work!

Anthriel: Your words gave me a lot of convidence when I was doing the test. Thank you There was no time left however to add more stuff to the painting, I was running late as usual. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

    Kicek:

DrDotPepper: Must have been a disappointment to search for John Berkey and then ending up here Thanks, mate! Open a sketchbook here!

Reporting in: I got the job!

Well, not the job actually, but I sent out the registration for university. The test was... strange, drawing comics, illustrating a page of a book (I fucked up, dumb me was too lazy to try out the pastel crayons before taking the test Oo), brainstorming slogans for beer and a car, illustrating how to make a sandwich in 4 steps (forgot to toast it, oh well) and photographing (4 hours time to finish, but it was already getting dark when we stepped out ). I was accredited for an interview with 40 others, 35 made it. I'm happy! Thank you, CAorg because I think me speedpaintings where the reason I was accredited. And those speeds are due to this forum!

Two new ones, actually the only 2d works I've been doing lately. Bought a new computer for gaming and 3d works and have been using it ever since to get back to gamedev. I feel it's where my heart is. Nevertheless, it's never bad to paint and draw, is it? No, so: A speedpainting and a value study. Both from mind, as usual.

Desert settings are rocking my fantasy and creativity at the moment. They convey an enormous amount of death with little enclaves of life.

Here's some new stuff. First, two wips, although that word does not mean that I work on it, in my world. I already made some hints for myself concerning the guy. But crit is welcome as every time.

And one of the 3d meshes that I've been working on the last two months. I concentrate on that at the moment, as I think I should rather work on what I already know than to keep exploring new stuff.
