What has been inspiring you lately!

This should be a good thread and I'm pretty sure It belongs in art discussion.
If this doesn't belong here, just move it, I'm down with that. I also noticed that there was an "inspiring image thread"
But this doesn't just mean Images It means everything, we can talk about it.

Ok so as the title reads "What has been inspiring you lately!"
I'll start, everyone else just kinda follow the form I guess, you can do it however you want though.

    Inspiration :
The Books, they are a band that not a ton of people know about, I suggest everyone who likes the music here http://www.myspace.com/iamnotthebooks
buy thier new cd it kicks so much inspirational ass. Especially the song "An Animated Description of Mr.Maps"

    What I've created while Inspired:

I haven't created anything yet, but I am thinking about life and that's good.
I'm about to hit my sketch pad. Good luck to everyone else and thier inspiration.

Bobby Chui of Imaginism Studios put on a series of videos which I found to be very inspirational.

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=78304

In the first set of videos he talks about alot of things that he does as a professional artist and they make so much sense that i want to incorporate it into my own studies.

Talking this may not be a good topic for me but I will work on a coherent response possibly

(the sound of my computer crashing on the ground outside my apartment) I have warned the dag thing to quit giving me trouble but still it does. [rant rave rant rave]

Seriously the lack of sleep is what is inspiring me these day just burning the candle at ever end possible and then some, crashing once or twice a week. I have also had to make my own music in order to remain inspired in what I call my kind of art works.

I would go into a big lecture on how as the Buddha we all are... but no that might upset the flow of this thread into a topic in direct conflict with other peoples view of life and reality and things like that. So "insert one's religious and or non-religious ideals and virtues here" have a great influence upon what I create, as the artist I am, I consider these things being of slight value and almost of substance that can become an influence on a work of my art.

I was a total anime noob until recently. I went to a annual pulp cuture event and purchased a few good anime DVDs which i thought i would enjoy, and man did i enjoy them!
I bought Evangelion disc one, Appleseed and Akira. They are so good! Now i'm pretty much on a mech drawing frenzy. =)

Random note: I thought the Akira movie was nowhere near as good as the books, which i had read previously.

I've had a great week for inspiration
I bought a bunch of picture frames the other day, and the idea of making something simple and quick to print and fill up each of 'em got me outta my slump.

Painting miniatures (low res digi stuff, to be printed at under 5 inches) is very fun - there's no pressure or awful fear of fucking it up, and there's no need to smooth everything out too much, or get stuck in boring details, cause they're so small that there's no need to.

I got inspired by those Bobby Chiu videos and advice too. Not in a subject matter/mood/colour scheme kinda way, like we are by music videos, or other people's art, but in a "I wanna work hard and get better, and I can!" way
It's something about his humble, sincere approach.
And his ideas about careers gave me a HUGE boost to get out of my shitty job and into something fun.

    Also, Artbooks!
Yesterday I found a copy of 'Yoshitaka Amano - the complete prints'.
I damn near wet my pants cause I don't ever see books like that around (in a music store of all places), and I can't just find and buy stuff online cause shipping costs are too huge. I've wanted to see that book for ages! It's hella inspiring.

Talking the voices in my head the illusion that are almost real

I have been losing touch with the things that matter too much so I guess I've been relying on confusion of insomnia for my inspirations this week or two just like sleeping when it was impossible to stay awake.
have I typed this before things seem to be making me er my mind explode again yet it implodes any way have to sleep, made er edited a video of art this morning and used old music of mine for it then failed to get debian loaded again so I must need sleep but my butt does not hurt from sitting here as I am.

I've been inspired lately by these Teen Titans comicbooks. They're so simple, yet so impressive, so far as cartoon anatomy & character design. I'm trying to create some characters for my own story, emulating the style. It's difficult to get used to for me, for whatever reason.

Books that inspire me to make history paintings: Encyclopedia Idiotica, Guns Germs & Steel, Collapse, Asimov's Chronology of the Universe.

For my art, I find inspiration and motivation in game designing, and the inspiration for game designing i find in what I think is flaws in other game designs and what I want in a game.

I always get inspiration form lokking at Vincent Van Gogh, German Expressionist and the French Impressionists and Robert Smith. But, as of lately, my new love, a Swedish artist, motivates me tremedenously. As, do the artiste which I come across, in the real world and the internet.

Everything around can be inspiring. Depends on the mindset of the viewer in that particular moment. I was amazed by clouds, reflective winows, curly hair, cigarette smoke, my own shadow etc. etc. recently. The most incredible patterns/shapes vertexes etc. unimaginable by the puny human brain.

    Nudity, Beware!!!

This guy, Simon Bisley! I guess he's pretty well known etc. but I've personally discovered him few days ago, and I'm very amazed! The illustrators could handle the oils back then amazingly well! His Lobo works are damn cool too!
