Hey guys, here is a concept piece I did for Cheyenne Mountain. They are developing Stargate Worlds. I am happily going to be doing a bunch more work for them. It should be a lot of fun. Thanks for taking a look.
real good stuff dude- looks 3D .is it?
only critque here would be - since there is hard light from almost all sides of this
painting i'd expect to see more shadows may be going in few directions,since you have 1 light comming from straight above the character and 1 from the right.
same for the props.
I like the composition and the lighting otherwise.

Really nice. And, I too want to know if it was 3d. It sort of reminds me of an Unreal Championship 1 level.(I wish I didn't sell that game)

dgbrain - thanks for the reply. It isn't 3d, but I did do quick mockup to paintover. Check the new attachment.

Great work Lyon. I will have to disagree with the comment dgbrain gave on the lighting. In daylight situations alot of surfaces themselfs will reflect light back to illuminate a room (they dont have to be shiny).
I would add a hint of specular highlights on the pillars where the torches would reflect from.

My crit is the mish mash of cultural and architectural elements. It just doesn't feel right. It's like a Japanese Elvis impersenator. But heh, It's Startgate.
Great job, Howard. Very effective sense of space and I really like the variety of textures you've used - makes what could have easily been a cavernous room into an interesting space.
I'm assuming Stargate Worlds is a game - did you need consider the game camera's viewpoint ( 1st / 3rd person ) when dressing the environment?
