Talking Reviving the Vancouver Sketch Group Session Sketchbook

    Hello.

I would like to start a new, revised Sketchbook for the small dedicated group that meets in Vancouver, BC. Yeah for Blenz on Granville and Nelson. Tim Hortons too. Tim Bits rock.

This shark model is off the net. It is not mine, I can't model that well. I am currently learning to model.

Just using the shark model to test out SharpConstruct. SharpConstruct is a displacement sculpting tool, which used to be part of Blender, I believe. Anyways, SharpConstruct is freeware, and open-sourced.

    http://www.sharp3d.sourceforge.net

I will be also including some photos of the Vancouver group. Wii Rock!

FYI: I am the East Indian fellow with the sketchbook holding it up to the camera, in the red fleece, small glasses and creepy finger pointing.

Talking More content on the way - Life in the way

We all will be hopefully up and running within a few weeks. A majority of our group members are:

    A) Attending school - Emiily Carr Institute of Design (Woot)

    B) Working full-time at various jobs (construction and a game company, and a
    photographer)

    C) Still looking for full-time work (That's me) I do work part-time as a Production Assistant (PA) in the TV/Film industry here in BC. (Woot)

I will pester the others to post stuff.

I will also be attempting to scan some of 2100 artwork, I hope. He says his scanner is not calibrated correctly.

I use a Agfa Snap Scan, which is obsolete, but still better than a HP or Canon scanner, in my opinion.

As for me, I will be most likely posting some 3D content, as I am really interested in modelling and texturing.

Playing with Maya at The Art Institute Of Vancouver got me interested. I do have a Graphic Design Diploma, but the education was not worth the money. Emily Carr would of been a better choice overall.

    Raizor 3D - modelling progress #2

    Finished these Halloweeny sunglasses.

I realize that the lens's reflect the enviroment. My excuse is that the Invisable Man is wearing them, so neener neener.

Allright, here's a little update for the 2nd alien. Glossiness turned down. Turned on Subsurface scattering instead to see what it does.

Talking I am the modelling for the yoo! (Heavy East Indian Accent)

Nice pics, R'John. I love the watercolor montage.

As for models, thanks. I like the models with less shiny, but to challange myself and learn to throw down some quick and dirty textures, I got make some stuff shiny. It's all aboot enviromental factors that make up the characters, aka: habitat, regional factors, etc.

    As for my update:

I will the posty the image of the newness.

*As with all my models, the base head model is a freebie by pencil_head from Tweak.com*

    base head model from pencil_neck

pencil_head from Tweak.com offered this base model, so no one is confused.

(I know, it's redundant, but I will post the picture of the base model so no one can accuse me of copyright violations) Covering my ass is what I do best!

Thumbs up Moustaches of the Female variety.

I find facial hair on women sexy.

Great drawings, R'John. No wonder you kept it secret from the group. It was worth it. Too bad there wasn't a Yosamite Sam from Looney Toons. Mutton chops would really put it over the top. I hope you show your boss's.

It's also great to see John posting his sketches. John's getting better from the looks of it.

Still waiting for Sarah and Jared. I will be posting soon. I just posted the photos of Justin drawing today. Photos are in the Local Group/Vancouver Sketck Group.

I hope we keep this thread going like this with inspiration and energy.

I hope to see you you peeps on Saturday at Waves. This goes out all the peeps in our little group.
