Very lovely! I'm ashamed to admit that I'm 18 when I see your work! In the first one of this more recent post I'd like to see a little more smush on the front paw, but that's pretty much it for the creatures.

I only looked at the images not the text,
Though I'll guess you're a fan of Teryl Whitlatch and own the wildlife of star wars art book. Really lovely creature designs, I like the naturalistic approach even in some of your dragons and the fact that your take the time to understand the bones and muscles of fantasy creatures.

Thanks for all the useful advice in my SB.

I really like your creature work - squishyfish and the dragons up there are very solid work. It looks like you're a little rough on doing other stuff, though; the metal doesn't really feel sharp, reflective and inorganic, and the human anatomy doesn't look as solid as the creatures. Still, I'm envious. You definitely have a better handle on creatures (at 17, no less) than I do!

m0uS3r - Thanks man! Human work is definitely on the way XD.

    Divine Wolf - Thanks!

Celarania - Thanks for the comment! I see what you mean about the smush in the front paw too, I'll make sure I keep an eye out for that in the future .

    Grandmassa Mr. Spect - Thanks!

28chelseaslater - Lol, thanks! And yeah, he's a real cutie XD I love him so much. Had him out taking pictures the other day, and I just love their faces! With that little smug perpetual smile on it XD, way too cute.

Arn J. - Well hey! Yeah, I remember you. Good to hear you finally got a sketchbook, I'll definitely have to check that out now .

Scannerlight - Yup, you guessed right . I got Wildlife of Star Wars a couple christmas's back and I've loved it ever since, really inspiring. Thanks so much for the comment!

Gryphon - Hey! thanks for stopping by. Yeah, humans and metals are definitely my rough spots, I'm hoping to improve on both in the near future, any tips you might have on those matters would be awesome . Thanks for the comment too!

Ok, update for today.... I decided to check out that pose maniacs blog and I've been loving it so far XD

#1: Trying out sketching some poses.
#2: Characters I used to draw, I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.
#3: I can't seem to draw guys well, I always mess up the lower half.
#4: I decided to try out some life-drawing... went down the to the Dairy Queen around lunch time and just sketched people. My faces need work soooooooooo bad.
#5: Creature drawing. Been working on the placement of my wings. I always put the shoulder blades too high up on the back. I think I got the point where I was just making up random muscle groups too .

    jedininjaman - Thanks man!

Small update.... since this last week was a "hard to draw" week. So I decided to create some doodlin' chaos to loosen up. This is what my base sketches look like... my faves the little parroty dude on the very very bottom XD.

I have a project for a personal fantasy world of mine that I'm tempted to work on for now, since I really want to do something finished for once.

Awesome doodles, as always. The little parrot fella is a good one.
So, what's this project you're working on? If you ever want to collab on something, just let me know.

Since you asked - my quick 'n dirty way to doing metals is make sure they're predominately dark, add hard sharp highlights, and then add some bounced color from the environment around it. Keep all the highlighted edges very sharp and crisp, and it should pretty much end up looking metallic. The particulars are going to depend on the kind of metal you want to do (aged brass, sharp steel, whatever) but that should pretty much carry you for everything but chrome.

Just went through your whole sketchbook - awesome stuff, I have to say. I think my favourite was the Oscillidon (or something, I can't remember off-hand what you had called it) with the tail with the blue stripes... For some reason that in particular I really liked. You've definitely got talent, keep it up.

Hey all! real sorry I haven't updated in a while, been busy with school starting, and... wouldn't you know it.... my tablet is broke, so I can't do any digital art until we get that fixed. Pencils are definitely still an option though .

Maoi - Dude, a collab would tottally rock-my-sox! Never done before, but always wanted to, they look like such fun.
Lets see, this project thing.... It's directly related to the pieces I posted in post #37, pretty much an expansion on those ideas, which are all part of a personal fantasy world of mine that I've been working on who a long long time. I'm hoping to eventually get all the information I have on it out in a coherent format for people to fully enjoy.

    DARAF - Thanks!

Newbs - Thanks! I definitely be trying to work in more figures

Gryphon - Ooo, much thanks for the info! I'll have to try and put those techniques to good use sometime.

daestwen - Thanks! I really like that Occillidon one too actually, turned out very nice XD

jedininjaman - haha, I know, I'm terrible at updating regularily XD so here's a dragony update, just for you I'll have you go see what you've been up to as well.

    ---

here's a pic from my project. One of the main races of the world, know as a Soltrappadon (Sillvionichus Sonodonis Soltrappadon). They're incredibly massive, the largest of the races in fact, and fall under the same classification of wingless Sillvine as the Ocillidon (S. Sonodonis Occillidon).
I know... it's only one picture! but I have a butt-load of sketchbook pages I'll scan today and upload tonight.

Edit: My brain is so dead today, I forgot to attach the image.

Hey hey hey, Caskin! Sweet updates. My personal fave out of this last one is the lower right critter on the fourth image down. That's a very elegant silhouette.
As far as crits go, again I urge you to start deviating from your short-faced, horned, four-legged dragon-wolf guys. They're cool, but you can do more!

Its creepy - we're at similar levels of human anatomy study, I think. I've been really helped by drawing from life and poses from the bridgman books. I think it would help you out a ton.

Oh and yes, love your creatures!

hey great texture with that one creature that you were rendering, also i think that you could make your figures look less flat and a lot more 3D by choosing a direct source rather than just shading generically...but great work non the less loving all of your different creatures man keep it up

Hey all, I'll reply to comments after I've scanned my sketchbook pages..... until then, the only thing I have to say is BROKEN TABLETS SUCK

Enjoy some random arts. Second pic is for a fan-made virtual Stargate series I've been trying to do some art for.

Very nice. I love the creature designs too but you should totally try posting up some character designs and maybe some environments too. With your talent, i'm curious to see what you could come up with.

Some good studies. You ought to try it with a ball point pen, less forgiving; it takes away the reliance of the eraser.
