Hey man, I really like this dragon/whale project. That's what I call large talons

Looks like you got some good references. I'd like to see more definition though, especially on the tail and the water/spray. Some sharp highlights could go a long way towards bringing things into focus.

Hey Bludhund: Thanks, I think your right with adding premature sharp highlights to bring forth life in the mixed colors. Right now I'm also referencing from some of Coro's work I was able to download (talented guy). Here's an update:

Hey, I just wanted to drop by to mention something about the particular red you're using. It's so flourecent that it puts my eyes into a state I'm not so used to; it feels like I'm wearing 3-D glasses.

    That's entertaining. Thank you.

Just have not been posting. I usually hop on the forum from time to time to see what CA folks are up to. I have been messing with 3D art and just started back on the 2D art.

Right now I am traveling . It will be about a week before I am back to posting. Thanks for checking in on me.

Getting back into 2D. Playing with digital painting and just doing drills for now. A few lighting drills.

Not quite back in the groove here. Took sometime to do some video production work. Here are a few concepts for a game that recently had the plug pulled:

Just painting around. Getting a better feel for using a Wacom. Still not comfortable with it, but doing okay. Just started this painting...about an hour in:

Still doing video production work so time is extremely limited. I looked at my digi painting again and did not like her proportions. So I started over:

Sketched with Wacom. Troublesome thing for lefties like myself. My hand position is pretty awkward as I try not to hit hotkeys and paint.
Using some Loomis ideas as I feel out the form.

Much better start. I'm about 1hr 45min in. Started with mid tone and went into deep shadows and added a low level of highlight.

Starting to look good, my only small crit at the moment is her form in the "bottom" right of the screen, look back to the reference, here right leg doesn't show the indentation that you have the should be a nice curve going along the outside, thats all for now, nice job so far, keep it up

No Name - "Good eye ref." I now see her right glute muscles are flexing a bit. I will make that correction as I work my way down.

I'm looking at this pose now and I can tell this has to be pretty damn uncomfortable for the model. The head is tilted enough to give me trouble. The eyes are a bit over tilted, but i will hold off attempting to correct for now.

Just a little time for painting:

    - Screwing around with the eyes a bit. Still seem a bit weird
    - Adding another layer of paint to the body looking for shapes and contours to define vaguely.
